Federer is the undoubted GOAT.
Best of luck to Rafa in the early hours.
Normally I wouldn’t be too worried about the likes of Carreno Busta but I think Nadal is in iffy form right now and he is a level or two above Delbonis and Dellien.
Hoping to wake up to a victory but I’m a little apprehensive.
I’m up for the game.
Easy for nadal. 2 sets up.
Vamos rafa
Vamos
Thiem through in 4.
Rublev beats Goffin. I think Rublev will break the top 8 this year, he could be the best Russian out of the lot of them right now.
Nadal v Kyrgios/Khachanov
Thiem v Monfils
Medvedev/Popyrin v Isner/Wawrinka
Zverev/Verdasco v Rublev
Nick putting on an exhibition here.
You were very warm on Medvedev a couple of months back? Still 7/1, has his form plateaued?
He was on fire at the summer hard court season, seems to have cooled a bit and his side of the draw is a minefield - he will have Wawrinka next, then Rublev or Zverev, Nadal/Kyrgios/Thiem and Djokovic or Federer in the final.
It’s a tall order for a player from the top half to win it.
Going to a 5th. Khachanov has won the 3rd & 4th sets in tie-breaks 8-6 and 9-7. Nick the Yid had match points in both tie breaks. He looks like he’s about to combust.
Developed into a cracker.
Khachanov has dug very big to be fair to him, wouldn’t regard him as a gritty opponent but he has shown it in bucketloads in this match.
Great match.
Khachanov took over four and a half hours to win in Round 2 and this one now will go over 4 hours. Be a fairly handy one for Nadal in the next round if its Khachanov that emerges.
Nadal would be much happier with Khachanov than Kyrgios.
Playing Nadal energises Kyrgios focus and he’s almost impossible to break when he is serving well and focused.
Correct Kyrgios raises his game against the greatest of all time.
Kyrgios looks a little more worse for wear here than Khachanov, be interesting to see how he responds.
Since the second set Khachanov has played the better tennis and seems to be one that has been dictating the rallies more and is having a lot more success in moving Kyrgios around.
Some performance from Khachanov. He has the chance here to serve it out, 8-7 in the tie break.
Kyrgios now with match point on his serve.
Kyrgios wins it 10-8 in the tiebreak.
Thought Khachanov was brilliant though and played the better tennis in the final 3 sets but Kyrgios serve pulled him through on those big points.
Delighted to see Nick the Yid win it. What a character he is.
Did the big giraffe Khachanov even break him in the match? You’d hate to see a fellow slinking through on the back of winning three tie breakers.
