Isn’t AFL a redneck sport.

all australian sport is. NRL, union, AFL. Cricket gets away with it a bit, and soccer is predominantly supported by expats and Europeans.

Jason Akermanis has come out telling Goodes not to be a sook and to man up. That helps things no end. Aker is a knob, so maybe that will be what is needed to swing it back in Goodes favour.

I would have thought rugby union is certainly a middle/upper class game, at least in all the cities, and the impression I got was that AFL is a distinctly middle class game in Sydney. Different in Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide obviously.

Shane Warne has also made stupid comments saying the booing is not racist. I don’t know how anybody can reasonably come to that conclusion given the sustained nature of it.

When racist cunts like Alan Jones and Andrew Bolt are thought of as two of the main opinion formers in a society, it’s not surprising stuff like this happens.

Adam Goodes ‘unAustralian’ says former Brisbane Roar goalkeeper

Former Brisbane Roar goalkeeper Griffin McMaster has weighed into the Adam Goodes racism controversy by suggesting the dual Brownlow medallist and former Australian of the Year should be deported.

McMaster also described the Indigenous sporting hero as “unAustralian”.

His outburst on Twitter has resulted in the gloveman being dropped from his Victorian club’s FFA Cup march against Broadmeadow Magic in Newcastle on Wednesday night.

“The club has been made aware of comments on Twitter made by their goalkeeper Griffin McMaster and has made a decision to omit him from participating in tonights FFA Cup match,” Heidelberg United said in a statement on its Facebook page.

“The club will investigate this matter and take appropriate action in due course.”

Earlier, McMaster weighed into the Goodes controversy by suggesting the Sydney Swan be deported.

“Adam Goodes calls Australia Day invasion day,” McMaster wrote in a since-deleted tweet.
"Deport him.
“If you don’t like it leave.”

Goodes, 35, is of the Adnyamathanha and Narungga people, whose connection to South Australia goes back many thousands of years before European settlement.

The Sydney Swans star is considering immediate retirement from the AFL as the booing controversy threatens to run him out of the game.

Gold Coast-born McMaster, who played for the Roar between 2007 and 2010, was called out on his comments on Twitter.

In another since-deleted tweet, McMaster responded to criticism from Ben Clark, who has the user name @scouse_roar.

“Ben it’s not about race though,” he wrote.

“I’m saying he’s unaustralian (sic).”

After deleting the tweets, McMaster apologised for any offence they may have caused.

McMaster, 32, also had a stint with A-League club Wellington Phoenix and now plays for former National Soccer League club Heidelberg United in the Victorian National Premier Leagues competition.

FFS - what is it with the crap sports in Australia & racism

thankfully my sport is immune to this

yeah I think it is as much about the state rather than the country as a whole with regards to the “class” association of the sport.

I love the other quote there you got, “if you dont like it, leave”. Some dumb fucks out there all the same.

On Off The Ball now.

Hawks bait out the gate :fearful::fearful::fearful:

the AFL exchange podcast called this as the bet of the round during the week, Tigers were 11/2 for this one they said.

@ChocolateMice - what did you edit after the Hawks game had finished on Friday?

Unbelievable scenes. A points deduction beckons surely.

A little joke is all, pal… I had Hawks by 12.
