@Fitzy is it just the regular season or are we going finals also.

Regular season - we can do a separate one for the finals - everyone agree?

Agreed. Presumably there’ll be 2 separate hoodies?

Will the hoodies have the sleeves cut off?

Yes. Here is lapsed poster @tasotti modeling last year’s prize hoody.

Jesus, @Tassotti is a fierce attractive lad. You can see why lads would have wanted to rape him.

@Fitzy, what is going wrong at Sydney? They look a rabble of a team the last couple of months. They were utterly shit against Hawthorn, and not much better against West coast. Whatever about the “racist” booing of Goodes, he is a shell of a man. The amount of times he was put on his arse in 50/50 challenges on Sunday was astonishing. Sharod Wllingham and Brad Sheppard made absolute shit of him, and even debutant Barass had a crack off him too. Obviously Buddy and Tippet are key losses, but Eagles lost McGovern too which kind of nullified Buddy being out. Even so, both have been poor lately regardless.

Houli made some fuck up in the Freo game to give them a win (or give his own Richmond a loss, whichever way you want to look at it). Hawks are in some form, hard to look past them for the flag right now.

Yeah, the knives are out for Longmire now, they’ve been terrible recently. It’s clear Goodes should have retired last season. Buddy has been spluttering when he’s on the field and Tippett has been anonymous in large part, Jetta’s all over the place. Hannebery and some of the younger guns have been toiling, but they’re carrying a few passengers. In saying that, Jarad McVeigh has been magnificent this season. The injuries to Gary Rohan haven’t helped and to be honest, I still think they’re missing Mumford, it was stupid to let him go. Mike Pyke is fucking useless and they really need a decent ruckman. Watch out this weekend though, they have a statement to make about Goodes (who has been given leave and won’t play this weekend) and the Crows will be on the receiving end.

Why have you put inverted commas around the term racist when referring to the booing Goodes is suffering?

It has to be one of the most despicable things I’ve ever seen on a sports field and the clearest manifestation of the racism that pervades white Australian society. And that’s what it is. No amount of hand wringing, bullshit about Goodes cheating (a two time Brownlow medallist is now a cheat) or bollocks about him bringing it on himself excuses it. It’s racism, pure and utter racism. He’s an uppity black man who calls out racists when he sees them and long may he continue to do so. He’s a fucking legend and I sincerely hope he ends up being carried around the G after winning the grand final giving the finger to these racist cunts. That would be the perfect way to end a brilliant career.
(Won’t happen of course as Hawthorn and Fremantle will be in the final, we can but dream though).

because I dont believe a lot of it has to do with racism, and I think by playing out the racism card so hard and strong, it will actually make things worse. Jobe Watson got absolutely booed out of it when he last played in Subiaco, was that racism? Or why is it that Betts or Jetta dont get booed? Or what about Sam Mitchell who gets booed in most of his games, A lot of these are booed because the opposition fans dont like them, or they have been a former player or whatever. It doesnt necessarily correlate that it automatically has to do with his race.

With Goodes, your first description of him is enough, “an uppity man”, I obviously cant speak for every flog who boos, but people can dislike a person without the colour of their skin or ethnicity coming into it.

Personally, I dont agree with booing full stop. I also dont think Goodes should be booed, he’s a champion of the game and deserves better respect than that. Same for Brent Harvey who gets booed like mad too, there should be a respect for players who give their all like they have done.

Now obviously there is quite a vocal element who are racist, and their actions are obviously deplorable, but I just think going so hard at the race card off the bat will actually make things worse.

I read and watched a bit about this last night. From what I can gather, Goodes has been booed every time he touches the ball in every match for the last two months, and is the only player in the AFL who is targetted by opposition supporters in such a way?

And it appears to be as a direct result of this?

Is this correct, @Fitzy?

If that is so, that’s about as obvious a case of racism as you can get.

As exclusively revealed on TFK way back in May.

He was booed before this. I’d probably trace it back further to when he had a 13 year old bird removed from the 'G for monkey chanting…2 years ago maybe? Bit of a PR faux pas, regardless of right or wrong. 13 year old white girls are untouchable*.

*Don’t nobody go there.

some of the responses I have seen to that lately are very much in the racist camp. People saying that he should have shut up and accepted it and that she was only 13. That is utter horseshit and absolutely leads to the casual racism that is very prevalent.

My only issue with it all, is to straight away declare the whole thing as being racist. People can dislike him, but obviously if they are disliking him because of the colour of his skin, then that is racist. And there could well be a case of racist undertones to people claiming they dont like him thinking they arent being racist. In the game on Sunday, he was being slightly booed, then it increased after he hit what was seen to be an illegal bump by fans and not refs to set up their first goal and the booing increased. and then the worse he was playing, the louder it was getting, and as Matt Pridis said, it is like a sheep mentality. But the other point being, it was clearly affecting one of their supposed better players, so if fans think they can put off a player by booing, then they will do that.
