Surely terrorism is related to a political or religious cause - not just one guys madness
The point being that if he’d been from a certain part of the world or had relations from a certain part of the world he’d have automatically been assumed to be terrorist.
That’s true enough.
Didn’t want to break my silence on this one till I had time to examine the facts. My interim judgement is that something is amiss and I am ruling out mechanical failure. I’d go as far as to say that something untoward occurred.
Please preface any comments with your aviation credentials. I am of the velvet strand, home of the southern cross.
2 lads in the cockpit from now on, with the door locked. they’ll have to piss in a bottle
what if they both have nervous breakdowns?
After the Air France, Malaysia Air and this its increasingly clear that the biggest risk in modern airliners is not mechanical or software but the pilots…
Aviation don’t kill people, pilots do
Evan Cullen, head of the Irish pilots union, feels the main issue is that this information has been released and that the investigator is “jumping to conclusions”.
Scarf wearer.
OK, so now we have to have both pilots, a psychiatrist and a very large bottle in the cockpit.

Any advice for the families still waiting at Dusseldorf airport for the arrival of the flight? Given the time elapsed since take off, the fuel levels on board, the plane-like wreckage found in the Alps and the recovery of the black box flight recorder, are we moving into a phase where meeters and greeters should be fearing the worst @croppy?
I would not want to worry them unduly, however it would be inappropriate to let them wait without some warning that the plane may have encountered difficulties. Aviation disaster news can tend towards the ‘all or nothing’ in nature, so it is best to try to prepare the audience. I would suggest the airport information desk issues a ‘brace yourself for bad news’ announcement to calm the situation.
We really need that “try hard” smiley
Debris, possibly from flight MH370, has washed up on Reunion Islands off the east coast of Africa.
I still doubt the families of the passengers will be having a reunion with their loved ones.
Could aviation experts please speculate as to why there’s been so many light aircraft crashes and deaths in Ireland lately?
Firstly, I think the two are related. I think there’s a correlation between the number of crashes and the number of deaths. Secondly, I blame the economic downturn, leading to the mega wealthy offloading assets at knock down prices which has resulted in less experienced pilots picking up planes without the same flying experience.
To be honest, there’s a good case to be made that flying should be restricted to Fingal only. It’s in our blood. It’s an alien concept to others.
I think you’re confusing aeroplanes with UFOs there.
