Aviation Disasters

blame the oirish then mate

No mate, I think I’m going to blame the russians.

It’ll be very interesting, if this is the case, to see where the missile was manufactured and it’s path to whoever fired it so. What odds it was made in Russia (if in fact it was downed by a missile)?

The TWA crash over Long Island in 1996 that happened the day before the start of the Atlanta Olympics was claimed by some Islamic group even though it was later proved to be a malfunction with the fuel tank.

It was too perfect to be true.

This graph of the vertical speed at which the Russian plane descended would indicate a mechanical failure rather than terrorism. But I really want to go with terrorism.

Of course the other thing we’re not considering is a bomb / device on board. But you would expect this to be a very small possibility given Russian efficiency and dedication to detail in security.

Did the plane take off from a Russian airport?

I’m sure it did once.

Well it fucking didn’t on the return leg.

Summary of potential causes here:

the pLane was leased from aercap, a Dutch company based in the IFSC, God, you made an awful fool of yourself there

Glad to see the boys have been clamping the shit out of that fitzy cunt on here. I imagine the Irish Aviation Industry will come out of this with its impeccable image well maintained. We are the leading lights of the Aviation Industry and long may we reign.

As two resident aviation experts from the twin homes of Irish Aviation, west limerick and Fingal, I’ve been discussing this in dept with @Little_Lord_Fauntleroy and our research has revealed that this plane was involved in an incident a number of years ago in which the tail of the plane was severely damaged. What has most like happened is that whatever repairs took place on the tail have not stood the test of time and the tail detached mid-air.

Bad news for Putin if this is confirmed as terrorism. St Petersburg is his back yard in Russia.

The Russians say “some kind of impact” caused the crash, and that it COULDN’T have been down to a mechanical fault.

As in bird strike or bomb strike?

Has anyone ruled out the possibility it was aliens (like what happened when they took MH370) trying to hijack the plane but this time it went horribly wrong and disintegrated when their beams hit it?

I haven’t ruled it out anyway mate.

I think only a fool would rule out that possibility given how we found water on Mar’s recently. But well done on logging it here just in case.

It’s slightly more plausible than @Fitzy’s cheap vodka theory.
