Must be a lovely smell in the kitchen.

How long did that take you.

The baguettes are pretty easy to make but you’ve got to make half the mix the night before. Then add the rest in the morning, 5 mins in mixer, 1 hour rising, cut in half, shape and leave to prove for another hour. Then 25 mins in the oven.
So it’s only 10 mins work but a bit of waiting around for the stuff to happen.

The brown bread is just mix and straight in the oven for 40 mins.

Throw up the brown bread recipe there

I’ve been tipping away at a few of the ‘healthy’ baking recipes in Daniel Davey’s book but nowhere near this standard.

Mix the dry ingredients together
Beat the egg, add the honey, oil and milk, mix, then gradually add to the dry ingredients.
Mix them well then into a tin and into the oven for 40 or 50 mins at 200c.

Have you ever made sourdough?

No but it’s on my radar.
I’ve been promised a starter so once I get that I’ll give it a go.

Once a starter is on the go do you need any special type of flour do you know?

Going in now

And out
