What was the general consesus on the fixed rates discussion last week?
I’ve gotten my letter with the new fixed rate options, 2.9% for 2 years the way to go?
I can go 5 year for 3.0%

Going off the valuation of the house from the time I got the mortgage (4 years ago) I’d be on around 66% LTV. Would I need to be getting the house re-valued if I wanted to try to claim under the 60% LTV?

Would you not look to switch it altogether to Avant. They are a full 1% cheaper than that. Save you a fortune.

How are EBS and PTSB online or are they even online?

PTSB are grand online. I’ve nothing to compare it to, but I’ve never had an issue with them

Haven’t used either in a few years. Suspect you’d need to supplement your current account with a transfer to an online platform like Revolut to make us of Google Pay/NFC etc. Moved the majority of my banking to KBC about five years ago but need to find a new home for it now

You can do google pay with PTSB now, only recently added it

It’s more complicated switching as I have two separate mortgages, on different length of fixed rates.
Plus I’m due a cash back in the summer. The next time round I can look at switching and weigh it up.

BOI online is shocking. I spent 3 hours on the phone to unlock my account as they are unsure of how to fill in a O’ name for the automated system to recognise. I was constantly getting incorrect entry errors and locking myself out of applications that I had to wait 48 hours to reapply as they can’t manually reset.

We have a joint savings account with them. Mother of Jaysus but they fucked up so many things with it.

I got ten basis points off BOI. 2.9% down to 2.8% by ringing up and saying I was switching could they do anything.
Fuck all in the grand scheme of things but think it saved me a €10 a month. Better in my pocket etc for the sake of a 5 minute phone call

I looked into this. One catch with the deal is Avant will only lend within 20kms from cities outside of Dublin or 50kms from Dublin… 5kms some town like athlone or KK then

You need to sort it via ATM.
Go to ATM > Hit Withdraw > Other > €3000

They just send them to a pool off numbers. Over half them will have a BOI account. That message will come into the message thread with legitimate BOI messages and will trick a few people into clicking the link and providing bank details.
