Banter or Racism

I was called a Kilkenny bollix for 4 years, back when Cork were a force in senior hurling. Was that banter or racism?

Neither, I would have thought.

Is Noel Grealish dog whistling here calling African refugees ā€˜spongersā€™?

If youā€™ve ever met some of Noel Grealishā€™s supporters you wouldnā€™t be a bit surprised at this

Surprised no. Disappointed yes

Itā€™s not dog whistling when you just come out and say it

What heā€™s really saying is Ireland for the Irish. Foreigners out. The subtext couldnā€™t be more obvious. Itā€™s dog whistling and racist and designed to get a few handy votes

Careful now, thereā€™ll be lads here lining up to call you a communist for saying that

Their hate crimes wonā€™t silence me mate

Itā€™s sort of ironic that any right wing ideologue would be against the owner of any hotel accommodating whoever they want in that hotel

They preach free markets but their inherint racism and hatred usually catches them out in the end

They? Racist

Iā€™m gonna say racism on that.
