It’s expensive so it must be good
They’re great …only 9 quid in Tesco
I have one alright, still struggle the odd time to light it, must be the charcoal.
I’ve never had an issue with the chimney, I do usually use the lighter cubes underneath, thry give a decent burn to get it going.
Maybe it’s the liquid firelighter I’ve been using then. Do you just use a normal lighter cube?
Lighter cube with a few sticks will scorch up through it in no time …
Wear eye protection using charcoal lads. Two lads I know got exploding charcoal in the face (one lad in the eye) last summer.
Higgins were selling kamados for 900 quid along with their steaks recently
Covid-related?
They may not have been barbecuing if not for Covid lockdown.
Apparently there’s a lot of cheap poor quality charcoal around that explodes when it gets hot. The lad who got it in the eye was lucky not to lose his sight. He was putting drops
in it for a few months after.
Was it safer than the coal?
Nice shed, very same pairing of colours as we have here
Any recommendations for a BBQ lads. As much as I’d like to go with charcoal I think the gas ones suit how i use them better.
I had a couple of the smaller Webers and I found them a bit shit to be honest.
if it is gas the it is a grill, not a barbeque
Some people get very snobby over charcoal v gas. People like me.
Just cook on the hob in the kitchen and open the window if you want to go for gas. Same thing.
Ok. What charcoal ones are good?
The weber ones.
I bought this last summer. It’s brilliant.
Most of the flavour from BBQ (gas or charcoal) is from a combination of the heat and the fats etc of the meat dropping onto the hot coals etc and sending a burst of flavour back over the food.
Any marginal benefit from charcoal comes with the significant downside of extra time and inconvenience. I did two steaks last night on the gas BBQ - not a chance you’d go to that much effort regularly with Charcoal. Similarly I was using it through the winter - how often did you get the charcoal going in Jan?
Prob the ideal is both, charcoal for the big bbq days with a crowd or plenty of time. Gas for all the other times.
