BDO Darts Tournaments + News

Anyone see the draw for this yet?

Martin Adams is only good enough for the preliminary round. If he wins he will play Tony O’Shea in the first round proper.

Christian Kist who won it 2 years back also is only good enough for the preliminary and if successful there, he will play James Wilson who is seeded 2.

Scott Waites is seeded 7 which must be due to him not performing well over the season. It still is mad though considering he is by far the best player in the BDO.

Ross “The Boss” Montgomery has defeated Scotty Waites in sudden death to claim The Dutch Open.

Roll on Blackpool next week. It probably deserves its own separate thread.

A great day for Scottish sport.

A big weekend on the domestic darts scene, with the All-Ireland inter-county championship taking place in Ennis.

And it’s congratulations to Donegal, who were tonight crowned All-Ireland champions.

Inspired by Martin “The Fox” McCloskey, the hillmen beat off a strong challenge from Jason Cullen’s Wexford in the semi-final on a 7-5 scoreline, before completing a comprehensive 7-2 victory in the final over Dublin.

Marty’s winning matches.

Tragic news for everybody associated with BDO darts tonight. Bryan White, who was selected just this week to play for Scotland in the upcoming Home Internationals in April, was killed in a car crash today.

Genuinely saddened to hear about this, and I’m sure Ross and the boys will do their utmost to pay tribute to Bryan in the best possible way when the tournament comes around.

The bed of heaven to you, Bryan.

It’s day one of the Winmau World Masters in beautiful Hull*, and what a start.

Mark “Geezer” McGeeney has only gone and dumped out reigning champion James Wilson 3-0, with a 106.14 average.

And in news that will rock the word of darts, John Gwynne has jumped ship from Sky and the pdc and joined Eurosport’s coverage.

Woof.

Tremendous semi-final here on Eurosport between Martin Phillips and Glen Durrant. It’s 5-5 in a race to six sets. Both players playing great darts.

Wolfie plays Jamie Hughes in the second semi after each player defeated Gary “Big Robbo” Robson and Alan “Chuck” Norris 3-2 respectively in their quarter-finals.

John Gwynne doing a top notch job on commentary.

Final leg. Incredible drama.

Glen bends the wire on the bull and Martin hits double 10 on his last dart. What a game of darts, what drama, what respect between the players at the end.

Martin Phillips advances to his first ever major televised final. A fitting reward for one of the game’s elder statesmen.

Standing ovation for Wolfie as he makes his entrance.

Presence. Of. Greatness.

And Wolfie starts with a 180. And so does Jamie.

The camera just focussed in on a couple of transvestites in the audience. A tribute to the tolerant nature of the BDO.

Can’t think of any place I’d rather be in the world today than drunkenly sprawling inside on the couch on a beautiful, sunny, cloudless afternoon, watching BDO darts on the telly.

Wolfie takes out the second leg of set 4 with 23 darts. If you throw solid darts on your own throw you won’t be broken and that was a clear demonstration.

180 from Jamie, Wolfie responds with a 140. It doesn’t get any better than that.

Clutch 36 outshot from Wolfie to break throw in set 6. He’s 1-0 up in the set and 3-2 up in sets.

Um umba an fuhhhty noyn from Jamie. Wolfie will do well to come back in this leg now.

119 outshot from Wolfie. Fucking magnificent stuff.

The grizzled veteran moves one set away from victory at 5-2. Utilising all his vast experience at this stage.

Wonderful spirit from Jamie as he pulls it back to 5-4.

Bloody hell. Just when you think this match can’t get any better it does. A 146 outshot from Wolfie and he’s one leg away. But Jamie is also one leg away from levelling it. It’s on a knife edge.
