What time do proceedings get under way at the Lakeside? This will be all in the head. Chissie has the form but he’s going head to head with a man who would have run the Queen Mother close as an English Institution. He’ll never have experienced pressure like this.
Piles called it correctly when he said they were Ally Pally regulars, and in fact I clearly explained what happened on the night. The two were later found to be PDC plants, but the excellent self policing nature of the Lakeside crowd meant they were swiftly ejected.
I heard they were jeered by the Lakeside crowd as they were escorted out…
The two court jesters were met with polite displeasure from the rest of the crowd because they were PDC plants trying to embarrass the BDO. They failed in their quest.
Coverage begins tonight at 5.45pm, I believe. Colin and Bobby will set the scene and I anticipate the players being on stage at 6pm.
Will Chisnall turn up i wonder having went on the piss last night in Morecambe with his mates?
He hardly travelled back up to the north west, in these treacherous weather conditions, to go on the piss. More likely, he had a session in the residents’ bar at the Lakeside with his mates having travelled down to support him.
I would imagine Chizzy was wise enough not to head up to Morecambe in all that snow. Instead he had a few drinks in the company of family at Lakeside. The darting family.
I can hardly piss straight the night after a big session, never mind throw a treble-20.
You’re not Dave Chisnall though.
How many 180’s can we expect to see tonight?
And don’t I know it.
A record for a World Final, depending on the length of the match of course. It promises to be an epic, and who can rule out it going the full 13 sets, and even into an “up for the bull” tiebreak.
Will there be a nine-dater?
Great article in the Tribune today on Jack McKenna, Ireland’s greatest ever Darts player. I suppose he’ll always be remembered as the opponent when Paul Lim got his 9 darter.
You can never say for certain of course but certainly the odds are in favour. Perhaps even two of them.
I hope we are treated to two of them in the one leg…
A great darts player and a great Kildare man.
Here’s Paul Lim’s magic moment, and what wondeful commentary by Tony Green:

Tony Green is truly the voice of darts.
