A sensational 143 out shot by Big Robbo after Ron missed a dart at double top to break back instantly.
The knowledgeable Lakeside crowd loved that.
Magnificent.

Robbo takes out Shanghai to win.
When is Glory Glory Garry Thompson in action?
Awesome final set by Robbo. He takes out shanghai to win it.
A 13-darter, a 143 finish and a 120 to round things off.
What a standard.
Robbo is a thoroughly nice fella.
It’s a pity he likes to throw matches.

Some cracking ties today, and of course the best is saved until last with Michael Meaney respresenting Ireland in the evening session’s final match.
A huge day for Czech and Latvian darts too in this truly World Championship.
Monday 6th January 2014
Afternoon
Darryl Fitton (England) v Tony Eccles (England)
Karel Sedlacek (Czech Republic) v Paul Hogan (England)
Jan Dekker (Netherlands) v Benito van de Pas (Netherlands)
Evening
Julie Gore (Wales) v Rachna David (Norway)
Jeroen Geerdink (Netherlands) v Dave Prins (England)
Geert de Vos (Belgium) v Madars Razma (Latvia)
Ross Montgomery (Scotland) v Michael Meaney (Ireland)
A piece of Eccles cake for the Viper as Tony Eccles took out Darryl Fitton 3-1 in today’s first match.*
And it was a piece of Dundee Cake for Paul Hogan as he beat Karel Sedlacek 3-1.**
A really tasty Dutch derby between Jan Dekker and Benito van de Pas is up next at the Temple of Tungsten.
Daryl Fitton must have been really bad if Tony Eccles beat him.
Jan Dekker is utter muck.
I am looking forward to seeing Julie Gore later, Bobby George’s tip for the ladies crown.
I thought The Dazzler would go one step beyond the first round at least.

On the contrary, Tony Eccles must have been really good to bezt Darryl Fitton.
Jan Dekker is one of the world’s top young players, and there’s scarcely a better match player around - he’s at his absolute best under pressure. A guy with a great future in the game, as long as his high flying business career doesn’t steal him away from darts.
Great win for Jan today - he brushed aside his compatriot Benito van de Pas on a 3-0 scoreline.
Here’s a high quality link for this evening’s play:

Farmer will be pleased to know Julie Gore was victorious in her match against Rachna David.
Dave Prins is through to round 2.
The man known as “The Badger” won by three setts to nil.
Michael Meaney is doing an interview on KCLR right now!
You’d know that Michael was from Kilkenny.
On his first round win:
“I held me own and that’s the main thing. Happy to get through, like.”
On what he needs to do to beat Ross Montgomery:
“Just keep doing what I’m doing.”
Have you been doing any research on your opponent?
“Not really, like.”
However Michael was very complimentary about the Lakeside audience:
“I think they like the Irish over there.”
Madars Razma of Latvia enjoying the razmatazz of Lakeside as surprisingly takes the first set against strong Belgian favourite Geert de Vos.
Good to see that our favourite Belgian darts fanatic, Jacky, is back at the Lakeside as usual this week, and he’s on his feet cheering as Geert makes it 1-1.
Lakeside remembers a legend:
