Waste of time stopping there coming hope from a matchday in dublin, but i often ate there of a friday evening or a saturday afternoon and ha some fine meals out of it…
That’s very disappointing. That was a savage carvery. The amount of times I talked myself out of a lunchtime sandwich and drop into the cove instead trying to make sure I wasn’t spotted by the beast at reception
someone said to me that the owner bought some place in portlaois itself and that is the spot to go to now…
I suppose the new dual carriage way has had an effect on business for them
He also owns the Gandon Inn just up the road from Treacys. Have only ever had the magnificent fry up there, have never done Carvery, but all word points to it being the business. Truckers frequent there more so now.
Treacys does however have one of the creamiest sweetest pints of Guinness you will find on the roads of Ireland (Cork may or may not be included in this).
the day we were in a good few people around us were not that happy with it, i remember it as something you would get in mother hubbards to be honest.
howards way gets alot of good things said about it, must get in there sometime
There was one old dude giving out yards one time I was in there (I was only a spectator though, as I was sitting at the bar), but he came across a total cock so I decided I was on the staff’s side.
Jesus, Guinness in Cork, what next. I have heard that outside Ireland, Guinness is most popular in some African country, but I suppose it makes sense that they’d be bigger fans in Cork.
