Best Pubs in Ireland

His brother Martin owns Kennedy’s in Drumcondra. The bar there is v good.

Collins is grand like, but I would comfortably say there are 5 better food pubs in Limerick city, nevermind Ireland.

McGregors place not get a mention?

O’Connells in Howth won an award which I thought was odd. It’s not even the best pub in Howth.

I would almost regard a pub award list as a guide of pubs not to go to if I’m honest.

I hate to be a cynic, but I suspect pubs must sign up as an event sponsor or make some kind of payment to organisers if they want to take home a gong. You just can’t trust these type of industry awards.

Correct. All the industry luvvies will get a turn.

Same as the advertising agency awards

Not unlike the journalism awards

Not one pub from Cork city which isn’t one bit surprising. A poor city for pubs.

Ducked the head in there earlier around 6pm, had to reverse out.

I couldn’t comment on that

I spent far too much of my youth in the Liberty bar, my wife worked there for a few years at its peak, it was the best alternative bar in town by a distance, flaggons and cans were the staple, it was frequented by all the cork bands and most touring bands as well, shut down shortly after the millennium
Reopened now as what looks like a hipster joint with a nod to its glorious past, I’ll definitely check it out soon

Pints don’t like me

I know it must be terrible

A great woman. Our designated driver got a generous piece of hot apple tart and a cupán tae on the house. The drinkers got tricolour shots on the house.

Proper Guinness. A proper house. Roy Curtis needs to visit this place and write a paean to it.
