Big, Big Month For Celtic - Part III

What a hectic December that was. From the sublime to the ridiculous and plenty more in between:

  • The end of the 12 game league winning run at Hibs and Artur’s howler.
  • A lovely pass and move display in the high profile friendly against Villarreal.
  • The inept performance at home to Hearts and the McGeady/Strachan spat in the aftermath.
  • Koki Mizuno’s debut performance and goal at Falkirk set us back on the right path.
  • And all was well again following Scott McDonald’s superb winning goal in the derby.
  • Welcome to Celtic: Niall McGinn, Milan Misun, Lukasz Zaluska.

January’s fixtures:
Saturday, 3rd: Dundee United (H), League
Saturday, 10th: Dundee (H), Scottish Cup
Sunday, 18th: Aberdeen (A), League
Saturday, 24th: Hibernian (H), League
Wednesday, 28th: Dundee United (N), League Cup

It’s important to capitalise on the derby win by beating Dundee United on Saturday. They’re the best of the rest in Scotland and play some decent suff and we’ll need to be sharp to get the better of them.

Aberdeen will be a tough trip and we have a score to settle with Hibs. I’m not overly concerned about the cups but there’s a potential Glasgow derby League Cup final if we overcome Dundee United at the end of the month. We can use the Dundee home tie in the Scottish Cup to rotate the squad.

Shaun Maloney’s out for the entire month but most of our other injured players are well on their way back now, including those with long term injuries. Hopefully, McGeady and Strachan can sort out their latest disagreement and he can be integrated back into the first team.

I’m not sure how busy we’ll be in the transfer window. There’s an argument that there’s better value in the summer, while being out of Europe reduces the necessity to spend now.

That said, we shouldn’t be complacent in the SPL and if there’s a good player available who can strenghten our squad then it could be useful to get him now so he’ll be fully bedded into the team for next season.

Semir Stilic is the name getting bandied around the most at present. He’s a Bosnian midfielder playing with Lech Poznan in Poland.

That’s a tough enough run of games. Now that Killie have fallen away completely Dundee United, Hibs and Aberdeen are easily the best of the rest in Scotland - probably in that order. Dundee United haven’t lost in three games against the Glasgow clubs this season, they’re a good side alright.

Still I don’t think we should be looking at anything other than five wins. Is Zaluska joining in the summer? Presume other two lads are on board from today/yesterday?

Yep, Zaluska is joining in the summer and the other two are on board now. Zaluska will be in goal for Dundee United at Celtic Park on Saturday. PM coming regarding our attendance at upcoming games.

PM not yet received. I’ll keep you posted.

Strachan just did his Friday press conference and was questioned about McGeady. He replied that Aiden, like everyone else who had trained this week, was available for selection tomorrow. I reckon he’ll be on the bench.

Good video this. The derby winner as captured from the top deck of the Celtic end. It raises the question as to what kind of person spends a derby filming sections of the game on their phone. Also, check out exactly a minute into the video for evidence as to why women should not be allowed to attend sporting events:

cracking clip

Hmmmm. McGeady has been left out of the XVIII today.

Team:
Boruc,
Wilson, Caldwell, McManus, Naylor,
Nakamura, Hartley, Brown, Robson,
Samaras, McDonald.

Subs: Fox, O’Dea, Loovens, Crosas, Vennegoor of Hesselink, Mizuno, Caddis.

I was out and about and got held up so looking for a link to the game. Samaras has just put us 1-0 up.

Just got it in time to see a beautiful move. Naka forced a save out of their 'keeper and then Brown stormed forward exchanged a couple of passes with Robson and the latter rifled a shot inches wide.

Sorry to piss on your Celtic thread, but where do you ge the video links and is there one for the Chelsea game?

Did you see the goal Bandage? My usual link was playing up but it’s working fine now.

Mark Brown on his way maybe? He’s not on the bench and with a keeper arriving in the summer is it too much to hope that he’s on his way.

Are Chelsea playing at 3? Give me a minute to have a look.

Nothing doing sledge.

I usually get links from fsicrew or from rojadirecta.com. The latter is excellent for Spanish football and not bad for gridiron.

Celtic links I get from a paysite, every game every year for 20 quid. Haven’t had a problem in 2 years with them but it’s only really useful if you’re a Celtic or Huns fan. Scottish football takes precedent with all Celtic and huns games available with the odd EPL or La Liga game thrown in - basically just whatever’s on sky.

Celtic playing very well at the moment. Knocking it around very well. Brown having a good game and Naka putting in some cracking tackles!

Very impressed with the 20 minutes I saw of that plus saw the replay of the goal and Brown did very well for that before a tidy finish from Samaras. We’re passing it very well and Brown is having some game.

Still they’re a decent enough side (though not having much of the ball today) a one goal advantage is always dangerous.

Playing very well here alright. We had that flurry of chances after 20 minutes or so when I started watching it and have controlled possession and knocked it around well since then without creating clear cut chances. They’re very well organised and quite decent so we need the second goal. Brown’s been excellent and Naka’s lively today too.

I used to use rojadirecta a bit when I didn’t have Sky. Usually easy enough to get Premiership games but I suppose the global coverage of the cup is different.

Try iraqgoals.com - was on there looking for a Celtic link and they’ve a few cup games. Not sure if they’re showing Chelsea though.

Cheers will do, in the oul pair’s gaff though and both PC and connection are painfully slow, woiuldn’t be confident about the feed even loading but sure we’ll have a look anyway.
