There’s some amount of bird shit around the place for the last week or so.
On the car. One the house windows. On the path. On the patio furniture.
It must be bird scour season…

I saw an egret on a back road near a river bridge while driving this evening. First time ever to see one.
Stopped the car and traffic to allow it get off the road. However it continued up the road to a crossroads and somehow made it across a main road to safety on the far ditch.

Weve a mini waterfall at the bottom of the estate. After a deluge of rain, gets a fair volume of water pumping down.
Youd often see an egrit down there when out early. Fairly big fucker looking to lamp a few fish right at the edge before the water cascades. Id imagine the fish are some bit stunned or fearful.when they get to the precipice and, any delay, this lad knobbles them.

The Egrets are everywhere the past few years. Not sure why they are thriving when other birds are struggling.

Dinternet suggests a population surge in Spain and Portugal which leads them to migrate.

Yeah I think i mentioned it on here last year some time too that I’ve been seeing both little and great egrets around here that I hadnt seen, or noticed, before.
