Granite worktop too I’d say, ramming your success down the throats of the natives!

Please god tell me you went solid wood?

Walnut… And no tis a fine kitchen. But the windows are huge which reduces the amount of presses up high.

Painted oak and walnut myself. Walnut is a noble timber.

A noble wood but a bit soft. Ideal for a kitchen but not ideal for floors where kids are running riot.

Solid wood floors are great to look at for the first year but generally they are an abomination. Even the sun coming through the window discolours them. In random patterns.

+1 again large windows don’t help.

I’ve committed to a small extension next year anyway so I’m sure I’ll nail this one good and proper with zero mistakes :sunglasses:

May as well build it right when your at it kid.

Will you have a good view of the new motorway?

All I needed to hear. I’m going to go ahead and order it.

Yeah, the pantry is excellent. Keeps the rest of the kitchen neat. Obviously keeping it tidy itself can be a challenge but if it’s ordered then it works well and you’ve no problems anywhere else. Every house should have one.

Is this “pantry” the same as a utility room?

more like a back kitchen.

I would say a pantry is the equivalent of a walk in wardrobe off your kitchen for food. 3 walls ceiling high with shelving. Anything else is just a back kitchen.

I met a roaster in 1995 whose definition of a utility room was a “place you could shite and peel the spuds at the same time”.

This is exactly what I want to establish.
