Bleeding Radiators

Not technically correct. I pay property management fees so I don’t have to directly deal with the little guys who possess expertise in piping and sewerage.

That’s the joys of living in an auld flat I suppose

No, they are benefits, pal. The joys of living in a flat are getting to watch sweaty perverts like @HBV rock up to the bloc to meet and ride hookers.

The likes of @Massey would rather shovel shit than provide some low income earner with a few quid and a little boost by giving them the business.

I doubt you even know what a shovel is bando,do you know what a graipe is?

I like it, yes I do. You’re familiar I take it with the implement Boxty Snr. referred to as a “turf graipe”.

My auld lad would probably have known more about a turf graipe boxty,we had a great bog in mullies that he wouldn’t let the turf machine go near and he would cut that one by hand, regular graipes I would have plenty of experience of,no need for and s+c coach using one of these for a few hours every day

I doubt that he would rather shovel it, it’s more that that’s all he’s good for.

Nothing more amusing than some monkey guffawing at the organ grinder because they can dig a hole deeper and faster

Myself and the oul’ lad were on the bog one day about 50 years ago and the bank beside us had been given to/inherited by a pair of brothers returned from New York. They arrived in pristine white short sleeved shirts without food or water and set to.
The bigger lad (about 70) was operating a breast spade with no great skill, but upon cutting a sod he’d fling it up and shout

“You got him Pat” to which Pat would reply “Gottem”.

“Place it on the truck” then was the order.

The pair of them were fucked by dinner time and weren’t seen again but at least they fulfilled a dream.

Amateurs ted

We had a fella cutting turf with a slean / slane on the bank next to us. And that was the recent past - about 10 years ago. He used to arrive out on his Honda 50, work away for a few hours without talking to a sinner, and then tip away home with a few sods in the back box of the Honda. A strange article.

Guys, we have another problem. This cursed house.

So my 3yo daughter just came in giggling to tell me it’s raining in the kitchen. And it was. Bit of a flood from upstairs bathroom.

I let her deal with putting bowls under the leaks while I went upstairs to investigate.

The problem is related to the sink.

The pipe at the back of the sink has a joint that doesn’t seem to meet perfectly, there follows some photos to illustrate the problem.

This is what I was presented with:

The water is leaking out where that joint is at the grey band. It’s going through the gap in the floor for the bottom bit of the pipe but it’s just going down onto the ceiling below and coming down through the light fixtures.

This is what the joint looks like when you just pull out the bottom piece - it pulls out really easily.

This is what it looks like when you separate the two completely. I have removed the screwy ring thing from the top piece and it just falls to the ground. That has a blue ring inside it but it’s way bigger than the bottom pipe because it goes over the threads on the top pipe and the bottom pipe fits inside that.

Should the thing just work by putting the bottom pipe inside the top pipe and screwing that yoke on tightly? It doesn’t seem to grip the bottom pipe tightly enough at all. The two had come apart a couple of years ago and I just retightened it but even now when I screw the ring thing as tightly as it goes it’s still not sealed so water just escapes at this point.

What do I need to do?

Woodies ASAP. Plumbers tape for the quick fix and a good sprinkling of Holy Water.
Tomorrow set up a “Calling Mac” thread and you’ll get further help.

If you offered me a hundred yoyo’s I’d tip up and do a proper job.

Turn off the water source to the pipe first anyways

Looks like it’s a simple fix rocko. Try get the measurement of the diameter of each pipe. It looks like a simple waste water reducer fitting which will connect up both should stop the problem

Nothing to add to what’s already been said. Carry on.

It’s just a tap. I’ve put a towel over it to remind everyone not to use it. Once the tap isn’t on there’s no problem.

How does that work? Does it fit onto both the top and bottom pipes? The top pipe is threaded on the outside, the bottom one is just a tube. Does that matter? I can’t picture something that would connect to both.

You can get a compression reducer too which would have a threaded connection but it might not fit onto your threaded pipe. If you go into woodies they should have shelves of white waste water fittings so it seems a reducer of some sort is needed if your pipes are of differing sizes. You’ll know better what would suit your connection when you see the fittings in front of you. They are usually very cheap, so even picking up a couple of them to see would help.
