Bleeding Radiators

My radiator came off the wall a few years ago. Wasn’t too happy at first but @thedancingbaby sorted me out with a tremendously generous insurance payout on behalf of his employers. First class customer service to replace all the downstairs carpets.

No mate. Shit fucking plaster boards in these houses, seething on a number of fronts

I’d say you’d have been royally fucked if he hadn’t

This all makes much more sense now!

Was it ok after that?

Perfect.

This could have been the forum’s own “rod and emu” moment

@ChocolateMice died but the reception was excellent

The tap is worse than ever :joy:

Tap is gone…won’t tighten at all, I suspect it wasn’t the washer… What’s to be done? Worrying times ahead.

Call Irish Water. Apologise. Ask them for help. Simples.

I’d drown first.

That’s probably true on two fronts pal.

Whats the cure for water on the brain?
A tap on the head.

What’s to make a bollox of, change washer and put everything back as was… child’s play…there’s obviously something else up with it.

Exactly! You didn’t fix the right fkn thing!

I’d guess the plunger thingy is gone jagged and is eating into the new washer.
Dismantle it again and put your finger into it and see if it’s rough. Where the washer sits into the tap and seals it off ought to be smooth on both the plunger and the place where the plunger goes … This is caused by using the tap with a damaged washer, was it leaking for long ?
Hope this makes sense buddy.
You either need to file the joining pieces with a specialist tool or replace the tap.

I’m getting a plumber in, I’ve done my bit.

Good. You’re very narky of late and hopefully this will be one problem less to antagonise you.
