PJ Cuddy was a big name in the 80s I’d say was he, he often featured in my personal commentaries while I was belting the ball around the garden playing for Ireland against Scotland, probably the only fella from a lesser county to be picked.
He was a great player alright. It’s an awful pity in hindsight that the mid 80s laois team didn’t win a leinster.
Absolutely, could have changed hurling in the county forever. Instead Offaly got a goal that went through the side netting and the rest is history. The careers of Critchley, PJ, John Taylor and Joe Dollard deserved a Leinster.
However as William Munny would say, deserves got nothing to do with it.
There was a player. Saw him a few times for Laois and once in a club tournament game. Not the biggest or the fastest but he was a fine center back
Do you tell lies for a living?
Hurled into his 50s iirc and turned into a right nasty bastard towards the end. But he had it all, and as for the ability to skelp, well he was Camross after all, and abided by the Camross rule, you don’t start it, but by fuck you finish it.
You’re hitting a defenceless man mate.
But I don’t get your point.
There was a Christy Jones played around that era too. A wing back I think. A great hurler but he may have been a bit of a desperado? He didn’t seem to be around very long.
Kilcotton man iirc. I’m wagering this is him here with his son.

Billy Bohane was another good un from that era
huh?
you dreamed of playing shinty as a kid?
It was international hurling mate, I was a prodigious young fella, my imagination went way beyond Croke Park in September.
An international amateur sport?
Your having difficulty understanding and I’m in a good mood so here goes. If Pj Cuddy featured I was probably between the ages of 8 and 10.
It was just my imagination.
Hope this helps.
Did you attend a lot of Laois IC or SH championship matches or was it watching highlights on GAA Beo every Monday night made you so familiar with him? Or were you an avid reader of Long sheets as an 8-10 year old in Cork?
Hi kid. I need to talk to you about a challenge match. I’ll buzz you later.
Thanks for your input @Brimmer_Bradley.
Isn’t it funny that we’ve come around to the initial point, it was painful but we got here, it’s probably my own fault pal, I can be an awful thick cunt.
Pj Cuddy was quite a big name in the GAA world
a big wig down the cracker factory
Let me know. Btw I’ll fucking split ya on the sideline, ever before the throw in.
A dirty sneaky right hook when you’re not expecting it.
A big cheese indeed.
Great to have that sorted out now.
