Keen eyed punters will have noticed that Boyles have pulled all their advertisements in the RP recently, they’ve already dumped all racing sponsorship. I think we’re getting to the stage where the days of free Jersey Creams being provided in the shops are coming to an end. I would say they’re in very bad shape cash wise.
I would really worry for sponsorship of the Boylesports Coursing Derby, a hard thing to get sponsorship for and impossible to justify from a commercial point of view. Watch this space.
I was thinking there was no biscuits on offer when I went into Boyles the last day. Its a badly run outfit anyway, alot of sharp eyes have taken advantage of this.
With the chronic overheads and the amount of property they’ve taken on I’d say they’re mortgaged up to their bollix. Grew too fast and never put a proper structure in place in head office. Should have headhunted some of the top bananas who made Powers great instead of installing family members in important positions. CEOs leaving after three months in the job does not make for good reading. Interesting to see how they continue.
They can’t have many shops left, only one in Limerick to my knowledge?
Is that all? They’ve over a hundred shops nationwide I’d have thought they surely have more than one in Limerick. They’ve alot around the country though Dunph. It’s a big empire.

There’s one the top of William Street, but I can’t think of any others in the city center.
They also have shops in Adare and Newcastlewest.
I think the removal of the coffee machines from the shops was the death knell for them.
The fact the Boyle owns about 3 of the shops and the ‘empire’ is a front for an organisation that has also seen better days was widespread knowledge, oh and that organisation is not Sunderland FC, or the racehorse known as Forpaddytheplasterer.
Did I ever tell ye about the time the cunts refused me a bet of 1000 - 800 on a GAA match, so I went to 3 shops and sent another lad to two and got it all on. Cunts rang my mobile the following day and told me I was no longer welcome as a customer. Met John Boyle coursing some weeks later and gave him an ear full, the cunt.
It is alluded to in the Greyhound thead but hegarty is talking some white about the twine he is laying at HQ… He is a good layer but he isnt taking those lumps, presume the figures are his total book.

I remember a mate of mine got hold of the mike and took the piss out of Boyles publicly at the ‘call over’ in Clonmel a few years ago about them not laying prices, had the Minella in stitches, however the ICC mandarins weren’t best pleased at their sponsor being ridiculed.
