Bookmakers and general Money Laundering on the Dark Web

AK getting some kicking on Twitter. Deserved in fairness. How has he stale prices on NFL? He’s surely buying the lines in. They hardly have some lads in house pricing each game.

Not like it was an outrageous rick either. Just slower to move than the rest of the market.

I wouldn’t mind apart from his shtick as a man who isn’t afraid to take a bet. A bad look

I’d imagine ak knew your man and new his M.O

He should have his prices right then.

Not like a stopped horse coming in for big money. A liquid market

I can only assume it’s more personal and they had runs in with each other before.

Either that or he’s being an ape.

Exactly I can’t believe any punter would be on AKs side . His defence is barny imo. He had the prices up
And didn’t change them and a chap
Has a score bet on them. It’s an open and cut case imo and AK isn100% in the wrong imo.

Bets are in the tweet.

This is a mess for AK. He’s dug a big hole for himself.

Ak has creating a right mess for himself

It ties in with your attempts at backing Connolly, they obviously aren’t manging their prices very well.

I enjoyed his blogs etc but he’s come out of this debacle looking very very bad. Blaming punters for him having his prices wrong is just bizzare.

His podcast is out. The first 29 minutes of it discuss the bet.

half listened to it there but will listen to it properly tomorrow morning when on the way to work. His defense does seem to be BS,

I just listened to it. I don’t think he adequately convinces in a way that puts it to bed, and indeed the two co-contributors, particularly Calvin in fairness, played devils advocate a bit on behalf of the punter.

AK’s general point on the chaps account/bets were that he was extremely selective, had an industry (so insider) type profile and he was picking off stale prices. It seems the biggest problem was he was taking prices that had moved considerably everywhere else, and AK said of 200 touch down options over the weekend he picked bets on the two that didn’t move with the market (there was late injury news in those matches).

I think anyone being extremely selective and cherry picking prices every few weeks on something, particularly top price, without mugging up your account with decoy bets always inevitably get restricted. I’ve lost count of the amount of accounts I’ve lost by being selective and with the two I have open now I try to mug it up with some premier league stuff every now and then. I’m not unique in that and on this forum alone I’m sure there are 6+ members who have had various accounts restricted. It’s a part of the fabric now that if they think long term you are sharp and going to beat them, they’ll likely restrict you. Sharp punters now need to think of ways to keep their accounts alive, not just worry about picking winners.

I think the way AK communicated his reasons for the closure to the customer was tone deaf, arrogant and dismissive - hence the pile on. Also what smart bookies do is restrict you to peanuts and not send an account closure mail which can then be regurgitated on social media. Most of my accounts they restrict to buttons I’ve only had a few that sent an actual mail that we’re closing your account (BetVictor in the last 12 months sent me a closure email). I would guess after this AK might not send any more closure emails and just let the person log on the next time and realise they can only get 50c on the market.

It was bullshit. The punter was being criticised for selective betting. If he was betting more frequently, his account would not have been closed. They should state that in their ts and cs if that is the case. No one on the panel called him out on this.

Would they contact me if I backed a horse at 3/1 that had drifted to 5s elsewhere?

At the end of the day these operations are run by accounts.

I remember my dad met an engineer from Volvo who was involved I guess around the 80s when they’d used to make those estate Volvos. I remember him saying the quality in the cars they made decreased the minute accounts got power.

As far as I can see there is very little time left for betting on horse racing. Modern communication and computers mean bookmakers can get absolutely cleaned out bar en masse account closures.

It’s completely different to one person betting their opinion and another taking it on. Technology which has long held as the greatest tool in a punters favour is most likely what’s going to end it.

Most High Street shops nowdays are populated by tramps and down and outs. From my observations they bet evey minute on cartoon racing, dogs and numbers. Looking at the beaten dockets, stakes are fairly minimal between €1 to €5. Not sure if this is enough to sustain a shop. Have to say theyre fairly grim, depressing places

He’s made an absolute tit of himself over this. Definitely a touch of smartest man in the room syndrome about him.
