Corals. Chandlers are tiny have a very small shop estate in the UK. Iād say they havenāt more than 20 shops in total.
I have had dealing with the HRI too in similar circumstances and found them alright sorts. Was at Galway races a couple of years ago and had a couple of decent winners. Thought it clever not to cash out until the end of the day so kept the slips on me. Came to the end of the day and the slips couldnt be found anywhere. Closest I came to tears in a good while. anyway went back to the course the day after and went up to the HRI, didnt know which bookies I had bet with or anything. Gave your man the details and he chased it up for me. Ladbrokes sent me a cheque for the big one but the other bookie couldnt be found anywhere. I was pretty happy with that. Had a dispute with Ladbrokes in college, some dope behind the counter gave me 5/1 on Juan Pablo Angel to score against some no marks when he was in a hot streak. Had it written down on the docket and all. Thick cunt there wouldnt pay up as he wasnt first or last scorer. Not sure who was right or wrong there.
Bookie shops are for degenerates. Powers will clean up with their sportsbet business here if they can get it marketed properly. Their website needs improving too.
Whatās the story with Boyles these days? Are they deliberately trying to run it into the ground? I went into one of their shops on Friday to back a horse in Cheltenham, 5 minutes before the off they still hadnāt it priced up and the shower of slackers behind the counter werent going to bother themselves with finding me a price. I ended up having to leave and go off down to a local betting shop to get my bet on.
On another occasion I went in to have ā¬25 e/w on a 25/1 shot. The girl behind the counter said she had to ring it in. By the time she got clearance the race was off. Theyāre a holy show of a set up.
Did the horse win? Boyles are indeed a joke but most if not all bookies would have done the same thing regarding ringing head office with it. Any experienced punter would have known this and would have it factored into their bet placingā¦
ā¬25 at 25/1? Not exactly going to break a bookies if it wins in fairness. Why they needed to ring that over I canāt understand,
ā¬25 each way on a 25/1 shot? Rang in? They are ringing in bets that take out a mere ā¬750? FFS.
Last time I worked in a bookies the limit was 2k or more to a regular. Boyles staff must be on the phone all day.
The horse was 4th or 5th so it was a blessing in disguise but I wouldnt have thought It was a massive bet.
The other point I was making about putting up their prices annoyed me more, especially on a big day of betting like Cheltenham last Friday.
Boyles are particulary bad at this but whatever the rights or wrongs of it (and it is clearly wrong) it must be factored into the equation when placing a bet.
I couldnāt understand it either, they spend that much on tea/coffee and biscuits every week.
I understand that and if Id known itād be a problem id have left an hour earlier. I cant see how it was such a problem for them though, Any local shop in my area would have no problem taking that sort of bet.

This is Boyles you are dealing with.
Mind you I remember having a score on a filly @ 50/1 for the 1000 guineas with Boyles about six months before the race and they rang it in for clearance.
Iād say theyāre one big hit away from folding if theyāre at this carry on.
SS** and other betting shop enthusiasts,
What would your thoughts be on Mark Javvis Racing Service, spent the afternoon in one of these about 6 weeks ago and was quite impressed
Boyles at it again today. The oul lad went in to have ā¬100 on Jāy Vole, 50 for me and 50 for himself. He said the girl behind the counter, who was heavily in calf, nearly popped in front of him at the sight of the docket and scrambled for the phone to ring her superiors. The horse was 5/1. Unbelievable.
Ah ffs.
Thatās scandalous!
As expected Celtic are gone bust.
Anymore expected to follow?
I counted 32 bookies standing in Limerick on the Wednesday, thatās exactly half the number of pitches available.
Up to 3 years ago you would have had at least 50/55 of them occupied.
Yates is on 2 weeks holidays from Newstalk
I know a girl who used to work for them and she says they were a joke. There are a few other jokes still standing the betting shop business, for how longā¦
The small two-bit operations like bamburys and hacketts canāt have too long left either
