Bothar charity gifts. That goat ad

Me too. Crotty is going to have to do something for it though.
I reckon a half marathon in temperatures certified at over 30 degrees.

You’ll have lads canceling direct debits with other charities on the back of things like this, wealthy people who don’t miss the few quid denying those who need it most

You will, and redirecting it somewhere they perhaps have a bit more faith.

couple of simple solutions to that: any charity worth its salt should have a commitment to total transparency, open the doors and the books

a regulator with teeth and no problems referring stuff to CAB, Revenue and garda fraud squad

You’d be as well off cancelling the DD’s lads and redirecting locally

Should @Rocko get a shout as well? These lads have it sewn up ta fuck.

They must have the wrong sort of young fella doing the audits these days.

I think it was @Bandage had a lovely one about auditors some time back.

They are merely watchdogs and not bloodhounds.

You did a bang up job on PMPA back in the day

There’s a nice career to be had working for a charity

Here we go here go here we go again.

Let’s have volunteers running charities.

Seriously though. The existence of all these charities shows the absolute gap in the provision of services by the state.

And it’s everyone’s fault.

Who said let’s have volunteers running them? Let’s have over sight by a charities regulator and whopper fucking sentences for fuckers like these. And let’s tidy up a bit so we dont have 50 different charities providing the same services on behalf of the state or operating in the same area.

GardaĂ seize evidence from home of Peter Ireton, late founder of BĂłthar

The Garda National Economic Crime Bureau is examining evidence seized during a search of the Limerick home of Peter Ireton, a founding member of BĂłthar, the disgraced charity.

Detectives believe Ireton was centrally involved in the theft of tens of thousands of euros donated by the public to help the poor in developing countries. The 68-year-old was found dead in the garden of his home in Castletroy in Co Limerick two weeks ago amid the scandal which is expected to lead to Bóthar’s closure.

Gardaí believe Ireton feared or was told that David Moloney, the charity’s former chief executive, intended to implicate him in the misappropriation of charitable funds.

Moloney has since implicated Ireton in the theft of €226,000 destined for a congregation of nuns in Tanzania. Ireton is also alleged to have withdrawn huge amounts of cash from Bóthar’s accounts on the pretext of sending it to other charities.

Moloney has admitted to misappropriating €770,000 but the charity and the gardaí believe the full scale of his crimes has yet to emerge. It is possible €1 million or more might have been stolen, gardaí say. The whereabouts of the money remains unknown.

While Moloney has accepted responsibility for the misappropriation of huge amounts of charitable funds, he has yet to account for its whereabouts.

GardaĂ have yet to make any arrests in connection with the investigation, which is examining the actions of several people who may be implicated. GardaĂ suspect those involved are in regular contact with each other and previously attempted to destroy incriminating evidence.

Moloney declined to comment when contacted by The Times at his home in Tipperary last week but said he would be cooperating with the garda investigation.

It is unclear how the frauds, which gardaí describe as extensive, were concealed from Grant Thornton, the charity’s auditors. A spokeswoman for the auditing firm last week said it was unable to comment due to strict confidentiality agreements

You’d really have to wonder what some of these auditors actually do.

It was only grant thornton

They only look at what’s presented to them. If they query a payment and the ceo provides an invoice and explanation then that’s it. They aren’t police .

Some crowd of cunts. Stopped looking for calves and cows off farmers a good few years ago, wanted money instead. I wonder why.
