For comparison, in terms of developed economies EU is 90% of GDP and Japan 250%.

China’s partnership with the USSR 
There are plenty of reasons why China overtook India.
Both have elements of free market economics and socialism.
For example, India has traditionally had rigid labour laws. This would be something as a bleeding heart liberal that you would value, I would assume. China on the other hand allowed sweat shops and child labour on farms.
Very “neoliberal” of India there as opposed to the socialist paradise, China.
Let’s also ignore India delaying opening up to the world by a full decade versus China (and even then remain quite closed up), the cultural dimension and the geographical position of the nations in their respective regions where the neighbours were industrialised or ahead of them in industrialising (South Korea/Japan) vs. Pakistan and Bangladesh. Just to mention a few things.
What’s truly gas is the bleeding heart in here trumpeting the human rights abusing nation versus the largest democracy in the world…as always the veil slips. I look forward to the next time Trump tweets something mean and it’s considered an affront to democracy by you and your pals.
After the PRC was formed in 1949, the USSR was their closest ally. Dumping the soviets and aligning economically with the US and embracing capitalism was what led to China’s economic growth.
The Socialist Republic of Vietnam kicks the shit out of capitalist India. Never mind China.
27.5% of Vietnam’s exports are in the high-tech sector. For neoliberal India it’s 7.5%. They also have reduced their poverty rate from over 60% in the early 90s to around 10% today, whereas in India it’s still over 20%.
And Vietnam was destroyed in a war 50 years ago.
Just cos a country calls itself a Socialist Republic don’t mean it is . The state is the capitalist entity.
