They surely did. They’ve been quite circumspect about it this time around, they were clearly humbled by it. They are experimenting a bit. Online polls are showing consistently different results to phone polls. They are afraid that they are systematically missing parts of the population that simply don’t answer their phone to numbers they don’t know (i.e. the likes of me).

On the afternoon of June 16 the FTSE hit 5906, down 8% from the April high, and dropping like a stone as poll after poll indicated Brexit sentiment had changed to leave.
bang, bang, Jo Cox dead, evening of June 16.
FTSE back at 6338 today, up 7% from June 16, and the world has been saved again for the bankers (the ones who would be truly hurt by a Brexit).

It would take them two weeks to get the full results back in Ireland. You’d have centres down in the likes of Kerry that would close up shop at 9pm so they could all go to the pub to get pissed and resume it again the following afternoon whenever they wake up. And then after a week of that someone would notice they made a balls of it and they’d have to start it all over again.
