It’s all non binding really
The poor auld Tim nice but Dims haven’t a breeze what they are doing
Bizarre stuff
They reckon that now they have given May the mandate to negotiate that this will smoke the EU out and they will have to talk to her.
Will the EU even let them extend at this stage when they are going nowhere fast
They will.
There’s a general election around the corner now.
Jeremy needs to shit or get off the pot
He’s a busted flush.
They are all busted flushes. How could anyone vote for anyone of them again?
He hasn’t even played a hand. Coward.
I believe they said there would have to be a reason for it, e.g. general election, another referendum, or a statement that the UK was going to move on its red lines.
He should join Sinn Fein, would get away with doing nothing.
“Alternative arrangements” won’t cut the mustard so.
They probably won’t. The funny and really really obvious thing is that if there were alternative arrangements that would cut it the backstop wouldn’t be invoked. So if they were so confident in the alternative arrangements and technological solutions they would have no fear of the backstop coming into effect. Their position is completely illogical.
You’d have to think at this stage that SF votes could make a difference. The argument that if SF were voting for something others wouldn’t is complete horseshit at this stage with the party whip being ignored all over the place.
Why would you think that. The minimum margin tonight was 17 votes.
SF were elected on the basis of abstention . I ain’t a supporter but they really could not break that pledge .
Not tonight but maybe in the future. It’s fairly fluid with Tories voting for Labour motions and vice versa and razor tight margins. 17 today but up to the end none of the Pol Corrs could actually forecast which way most motions would fall. In that context 7 votes is very material.
I’m not suggesting they vote for everything - just on votes which could have a hugely significant impact on those voters.
Their absolute need to stick to that policy, even though circumstances have changed or are abnormal, even though it may be to the detriment of their constituency reminds me of the US army officer quote in Vietnam “We had to destroy the village in order to save it”
There’s no way they’re swearing an oath to the Queen!
You dont think any mps would not want to be seen to vote the same way as SF ?
