BREXIT thread

To save a crash out.

DUP and ERG will now have to decide to go all in or not. Risk of no Brexit if they don’t back the deal.

But if there’s no material change to circumstances, ie. no second referendum or general election, NOTHING HAS CHANGED.

Yesterday there was talk May wanted an extension until May 24th.

What would that achieve except another cliff edge a small bit down the road and another (probably) failed vote?

The EU have previously talked of a long extension until the end of 2020. I could see them renewing that offer, but the Brexiteers would likely go mental.

They won’t agree to an extension unless there’s a clear point to it. Extension to carry on the last few months charade will get a no. Patience in the EU wearing thin and the view is the EU can take the hit of a hard Brexit and move on, and better to move on with certainty than being in a continuing state of limbo.

The Brits are scheduled to have a Commons vote on Thursday (I think) on what length of extension they want.

Isn’t this just more talking to themselves?

So is this evening’s vote cancelled?

Fucking hell this is amateur stuff.

This is the DUP’s moment of reckoning.

You’d love to be a fly on the wall at their private discussions today.

I agree in that the deadline needs to be pushed well out.

There needs to be a fundamental switch in the UK. Brexiteers need to get involved in the negotiations or else a general election.

God knows what the result of that will be.

No. The schedule for this week is:
Today: Vote on whether to accept May’s all new, all dancing unchanged deal.
Tomorrow: Vote on whether to “rule out” no deal (this is a fig leaf as no deal can’t be ruled out by definition - it happens when all else fails and nothing positive happens to prevent it).
Thursday: If Wednesday’s vote to rule out no deal is passed, they vote on what length of extension they want.

They have been involved.

Huh?

But they have been.

May brought them into the heart of her cabinet when she was appointed.

They’ve had every chance. They’ve failed utterly.

They even signed off on the deal they rejected the next day.

Either Article 50 needs to be rescinded completely or Britain needs a Labour government with time until the end of 2020 to sort all this out.

A completely absurd situation.

With Cox now saying nothing has changed it’s unlikely the DUP can argue otherwise. But it’s bizarre that their opinion matters at all.

Everyone must be mightily relieved that Irish audits are carried out under International Standards on Auditing (Ireland) as issued by IAASA, for periods commencing on or after 17 June 2016.

Previously Irish auditors operated under ISAs (UK & Ireland) as issued by the FRC. Imagine the chaos that could have ensued if this change had not occurred.

The root of all evil

I mean a Brexiteer in the hot seat.

DUP noises saying they can’t support the deal following Cox’s advice. ERG the same. Not looking good for May’s deal.

Now is the time for the people’s vote movement to ramp up. Not aware of the numbers myself but if they can get a majority in parliament to call for a new referendum then the EU will give them an extension to hold it.

So, if May loses this, then they have another meaningless vote to “take no deal off the table”, it’s possible another referendum becomes the only way to do that.

All the Brexit secretaries have been brexiteers. They all failed and resigned.
