BREXIT thread

at the moment, the neighbours up the lane are quietly stockpiling tinned food, dry food, condensed milk etc …they are survivalists though!

This is quite a balanced article on the backstop

The backstop is mental. Who is going to sign up to be linked up to the EU in perpetuity if they want to be independent and negotiate their own trade deals?

A country that already had international obligations to prevent a hard border on the island of Ireland?

The whole mob are completely on point about that. Cummings wrote it no doubt. I despise the baldy little prick. For some reason, out of them all, I hate him gove and fox the worst (apart from loathsome mcvile and the unionists)

They might have overlooked that slightly. The fundamental error in all this was triggering Article 50 before they knew what they wanted. Should have been a cross party thing but wasn’t because May was sucking up to the right wing.

Their need for DUP support fucked them. Original backstop only applied to Northern Ireland. Nobody would have noticed and would have moved on until unionists who oppose gay marriage and abortion wanted the same laws as rest of GB who have gay marriage and abortion.

They were utterly clueless.
This whole charade has nicely illustrated what a shower of thick fuckers the ingerlish ruling class are.

Lions led by donkeys

Clueless but also arrogant. Sending David Davis to be the lead negotiator was a joke. What was it Cummings said about him “thick as mince and lazy as a toad”?

It’s the DUP’s last stand. They want a border.

They are arrogant beyond belief, but the tide has gone out, and they’re swimming with no togs on.
Boris is widely ignored by the general public now, as are most of them. A few queues at the airport, reintroduced credit card charges and a petrol shortage, and they’ll be e-lynched. Some of them won’t be able to safely walk down a street.

That didn’t matter much to them because you had idiots like David Davis leading the charge who were convinced that the “German car manufacturers” would put the squeeze on the German government to give Britain exactly what it wanted whenever they decided what that was. They fundamentally misunderstood what they were dealing with.

Not sure about the lions bit.
Average people led by donkeys.

But most of the politicians in all parties have never had a proper job. They’ve been policy wonks or hacks all their careers. They don’t understand things like business. Jeremy Hunt was an exception. Not saying he would have been any good either.

Britain is not erecting a hard border on the island of Ireland. The EU however will be. Nowhere in the GFA does it say EU membership is critical to its continuance nor should it it. You should be allowed leave a trade organisation ffs without all this manufactured bullsh1t about borders and peace.

Except it’s morw than that.

Sorry for pointing out realities.

Is this @Special_Olympiakos lad a wum or actually just an oddball Irish little Englander? He always struck me as too dumb to be on the wind up, but sure he’s not actually as dumb as his few posts above, is he?

England doesnt give a tupenny fuck about the north it is just a complication for them at this point.

thje issue is the next thing on the agenda in the North, for nationalists will, be a referendum regarding a vote for unity. There is for the the first time a Catholic Majority in the North, Brexit may be the catalsyt to start a new era of troubles in that fractious land
