German exporters are also advising the government to think long terms and protect what’s left of the project.
Is there a deal that Germany could give the UK that doesn’t fundamentally undermine the EU? Just fuck a hard border on Ireland and get the Brits to agree to Norway? But the Brits wont even accept Norway so surely the Germans should stand by the Paddies?

For the Brits to leave the EU on any sort of “deal” resembling what the Brexiteer crackpots want and keep the border open, there would basically have to be a united Ireland, and that isn’t going to happen for decades, if it ever does.
The thing is that the North never remotely figured in their calculations - obviously - they were barely aware of its existence in the first place.
