That seems very odd that Sir Geoffrey would bring three women to France (at his own expense) who corroborate the Complainants version of events. Was there something lost in translation there?
I don’t know a whole lot about the French Criminal Justice system but in Ireland and the UK, there is a presumption of innocence, the accused is not required to tender evidence to prove their innocence. If an accused goes into evidence and tenders witnesses, invariably the evidence is consistent with what the accused is maintaining.
With that defence a guilty verdict would be the likely verdict in all modern day democratic countries. As you say yourself he would most likely have been found innocent in the UK meaning his knighthood would not be questioned.
It just shows , again, how incredibly insular Britain is … For an Empire that the sun never set on and all it’s so called multi-culturism, the tans are very narrow minded and extremely xenophobic … None of that is ground breaking I knwo, but Boycott just re-enforces this notion and how the tans see themselves in the world. They are a very sentimental lot really, which can be good and bad … but they allow this sentimentality to be continuously manipulated and to guide them … sentimentality seems to be the national conscience - which is fine, if it wasn’t based on a racism and imperialism and superiority.
