We should back Leo. For me it’s Better the Devil you Know

It doesn’t. The only witness said she thought it was consensual. You’ve chosen to ignore the evidence of the one and only witness.

Living on the border here @Tassotti and the people have been unusually complimentary about Leo in the last 24 hours. This would be traditionally SF country, but the general feeling is that Leo got it sorted out, while the SF crowd could only rattle on about Irish Unity, without any real understanding of how politics work.

Leo is going to bring a United Ireland yet.

Great to hear

I bet the Scots would have no problem with a hard border between themselves and England.

Did they not recently vote to keep the Union?

It’s a really bad deal for NI and worse for Britain itself

The thing is Varadkar and FG all but wrote the whole thing for Johnson

Johnson turned up to Liverpool with no notes and no ideas

Here he is excoriating his own deal

Its better that our shower wrote the deal rather than the English.

Is there a good source on that? You may have posted it before.

You’ve chosen to ignore the extensive testimony of the complainant in favour of a witness who admitted she couldn’t tell whether what was occurring was a rape or not

Says a lot that you believe a rape can’t happen without an independent witness there to observe the entirety of it

I’m not I sure I did post it before but anyway

By the time they met, Johnson knew his proposal for a light-touch customs border on the island of Ireland was going nowhere. Downing Street was briefing aggressively against Varadkar and Angela Merkel and the prime minister had run out of ideas.

“He didn’t have anything written on a piece of paper when he went in there,” a British government source said.

But Varadkar, whose officials had been co-ordinating closely with Barnier’s team, did have an idea for unblocking the negotiations and resolving the toughest issue: customs. If Johnson accepted that there should be no customs border between North and South, the EU could agree to two customs territories on the island.

Best case scenario on this is that there’s a never ending cycle of extensions of the transition period

But no deal is not off the table if this deal is passed

The likes of Martina Anderson etc need to be gone as well. She’s poisonous. Michelle O’Neill on the news yesterday looked like someone dressed to be drinking pints in Madonna’s Charleville. Cannot stand SF.,

I think we need to Step Back in Time here and see where we are and where we’ve come from.

Baron also said this on Newsnight last night

The ERG see this as the road to a crash out

It’s not that bad. Firstly the EU possibly want this threat and a very short time frame to gain as much leverage with Johnson as possible in those talks. Secondly when that time comes parliament might force some sort of an amendment on Johnson to stop him crashing out without a deal. The ERG won’t like it if course and the EU would have to agree but it could be done.

I would assume it just sort of kicks the can down the road and you’d have similar parliamentary manoeuvering to the last eight or nine months in order to stop a crash out and get the transition period extended, but it gives a complete lie to the “get Brexit done” nonsense

There likely won’t be a free trade agreement for years, who knows how long it could take, possibly seven or eight years at least

What I’m not sure about is if Britain crashed out in January 2021, whether NI would too or is NI completely firewalled under this deal

I think NI would be firewalled until Stormont votes for it not to be firewalled. Even if it technically wasnt the Brits would now just agree to that as a precondition to further talks. So basically it’s just a backstop that’s not called a backstop.

So you’ve decided what evidence was important or what wasn’t? Fair enough. That’s usually the job for a judge and jury.
You’ve chosen to ignore the decision of the entire Jury, who arrived at their decision fairly quickly if I recall. Of course you’re sure you’re right as usual, sure how could you not be…
