British Loins Tour to Australia 2013 - Official Thread

The Dricmeister General

The dirt-tracker front row is on - Grant, Best and Stevens.

Some sloppy stuff from the boys here with lots of handling errors from players you’d expect better from such as O’Brien, Halfpenny, Wyn-Jones and Faletau, the latter may be playing himself out of the Test team.

Sublime little grubber kick from BOD to give Jonathan Davies a try with the final play. Just the conversion to come now, and Halfpenny nails it yet again. 0-64 FT.

Hard to take much from that but Sean Maitland and Ian Evans will be happy with their performances while I thought Stuart Hogg and Conor Murray also showed well.

Alun Wyn-Jones hadn’t a great match when he came on but I still suspect he’s in pole position for the Test team.

I’d expect something like the following team to face New South Wales on Saturday.

  1. Kearney
  2. Halfpenny
  3. Tuilagi
  4. Roberts
  5. Zebo
  6. Sexton
  7. Phillips
  8. Vunipola
  9. Hibbard
  10. Jones
  11. Wyn-Jones
  12. O’Connell
  13. Lydiate
  14. Warburton
  15. Faletau

Subs: Maitland, Farrell, B. Youngs, Croft, Parling, Cole, T. Youngs, Corbisiero

Billy Twelvetrees has been called up to join the squad. Let’s just hope that the official line that he’s just additional cover at centre is true and that there isn’t an injury. I wonder is Tuilagi’s shoulder problem more serious than originally thought?

36 should be his nickname

Depends. What’s his current nickname? Probably Twelvey.

Twelvo if he played for Leinster.

Sid, could you clear this up for us please?

“36” is indeed Billy’s nickname.

Trivia: Twelvetrees is Billy’s mother Beverley’s surname and his dad Kevin took it when he married her as it fitted perfectly with his job as a tree surgeon.

Billy’s selection shows that the Loins are doing their bit for both mathematical ability amongst young people and promoting gender equality.

But doing nothing for spelling and grammar

There did be nothing wrong with da grammer or spellin in that post.

Some surprises here from Gatty. Big disappointment for the Kearnivore not to get a start in his first match available. It now looks like he may be confined to a dirt-tracker’s role for the duration of tour. Manu not starting and the call up for 36 shows the Leicester man’s shoulder injury was indeed more serious than first thought. Zeebs starts as expected.

Very interesting back row. Could that be the Test combination? Heaslippy has certainly played his way into serious contention.

The banter between the British Loins is absolutely terrific it seems so far out there, as can be seen from this picture

Oh Paulie you scamp.

I think we’re getting closer to the test Team Sidney, with just a handful of positions still to be ironed out. As far as I can see it, with the exception of the good old “bolter” in the Great British tradition, this is where we stand in nailed down positions, the back row will cause some trouble yet over this tour, could do with some injuries to make Gattys choices a bit easier.

Where’s Seanie?

Where he wants to be, right in the mix.

Scouting cattle for the aul lad?

I fear the Carlow man is going to be an unlucky SOB when the Test squad is announced.
