British Loins Tour to New Zealand 2017 - Official Thread

I’ll give Rugby one thing. They are masters at manipulating the media, in fairness.

Any of those clips from Glasgow?

First test is key. New Zealand are almost perennially slow out of the blocks first test in June. Am I correct in saying, New Zealand don’t have any warm up tests before Eden Park on 24 June?

Yes mate, the first test is key. if NZ win they need one more to win the series but if the British Loins win they only need one more to win the series

So we are looking at a best of three scenario???

No, first to 2.

Yes. The 2nd friendly is huge.one team could win the series or the other could level it

In 13 series in South Africa, the British Lions have won the 1st test on 5 occasions. Four of those 1st test wins materialised in to the only 4 series the British Lions have won in South Africa. The fifth in 1955 was a tied 2-2 series.

On 11 tours of New Zealand, the British Lions have won the 1st test on 2 occasions - one of those was in Dunedin in 1971, the only series that has been won in New Zealand.

The British Lions have won the first test in Australia on 5 occasions and gone on to win 4 of those series.

1930 in New Zealand and 2001 in Australia are the only occasions the British Lions have won a first test and gone on to lose the series.

So, to be clear, if you win the first one, you’ve a better chance of winning?

NZ will go hunting for heads if it starts to look any way dicey for them.

It’s essentially a long game of three halves:joy:

Wow. It’s really high stakes, that second game.

Ewan you’re an awful scamp

Sure they are not even the first imports to play for Lions. Riki Flutey and Brent cockbain both qualified on residency. Brad Barrit qualifying because his mother was from Rhodesia is a fair stretch as well. But fits his narrative. He’s some man for the Wikipedia!

He’s even feeling sorry for the Israeli Jamie Heaslip.

Some great names there.

Ben Youngs has withdrawn from the tour. His sister-in-law (Tom’s wife) has terminal cancer.

The good die Youngs.
