Broadband Provider

Hired a cobra reel to push the rope through the 40M duct from the the telephone pole at the garden wall to the ETU at the house. Ran into big problems at both ends, took about 12 hours on a cold wet November day. :face_vomiting:

Use the copper wire to pull a rope through.

They are worse than useless.

When the lad called to me (on time tbf) I thought he was hinting at all these problems in a kind of “but I can make them go away” type of manner

I more or less offered him a few quid if he sorted it out there and then but he wasnt even entertaining it

The lads we had to use went out of their way to not do a single bit of work. The best was the time they rang the doorbell and when I opened the door 15 seconds later they were already back in the van ready to drive off.

Had to get broadband into a house I was renting a few years ago.

First guy came had a look, there’s an issue with the pole in the passage, I can’t look at that it needs a hoist crew.

Appointment made for the following week, new fella comes out has a look at it and says I can’t look at that, it needs a hoist crew.

You are the hoist crew I says

Nothing about a hoist on my ticket, and drove off.

Took 4 visits to get it sorted.

Wrong size pipe was put in day one.
Pull through the fibre and be done with it would be my advice.

Thanks…so to be clear…pulll through the copper land line with pull rope to use to pull in the fibre?

You’re as well off taking out the duct and sticking it up your hole at this stage

Naw. Rope is the worst pull-through you could use. That telephone wire is ideal. Leave it to the pros. They should know what they’re doing.

Those fibre cables are big enough figure 8 jobs. So you’ll be a bit limited for change in the future. If you want the freedom for change, dig it up now and put in a two inch pipe. If you have only one fibre provider in your area, then not much point digging.

No sign of Gil… All you bad bastards and your rotten advice have fucked him… No internet for a few weeks now… The inhumanity of it.

And he dying to post up about the rugby

Id to drive down to the local library for the free wifi…bad hoors

I only contradicted myself once.

Anyone here using imagine on the west coast, what’s it like?

They’re meant to be the go to guys if you’re in a really rural area. I’m with eir myself and find them great if you can get them in that area.

@gilgamboa I presume the broadband company want you to foot the bill for digging up the footpath if you’d to go that route. Any estimate or idea what that’d cost?

Not really rural, just no telephone line

Yes.

A handy fella would do it in a few hours its not a big job. Couple of hundred euro max id say

My router just blew up-literally! There was a clap of thunder and I’m assuming lightning earthed itself on my poor box. Rang eir there 8 mins of options before being told I’m being put on hold. Disaster for us- we’ve nothing out here without broadband

Any few auld board games for when this happens?

It’s a new large scale cyber offensive by the Clare County Board. When they detect offensive posts coming from a particular IP address they can send a power surge to that IP and blow up the router.
