No mention of China of course, even though they contribute 25% of global emissions, 70% of their energy comes from coal, and they have resumed building new coal plants in China and are currently building 300 new coal plants across Asia and Africa. Their leaders don’t care a toss about climate change, they care about staying in power. They can’t get voted out so the only way they lose power is revolution due to an economic downturn, they will avoid that at all cost, even if it means destroying half the planet.
The left are simultaneously batshit crazy and dumb as rocks.
The reality of the situation is that unless those in the west are willing to give up their lifestyles NOW (stop heating their homes using oil or gas in winter, cooling them in summer, driving petrol/diesel cars, taking public transport, etc.) and those in the developing world give up their aspirations to improve their living standards, things will get worse before they get better.
The reality is the developing world is quickly becoming the developed world. Extreme poverty has been cut from 60% of the world’s population 50 years ago to now less than 10%, and 50% of the world’s population are regarded as middle class. Most of that advance is due to fossil fuel energy.
Fundamentally the issue is overpopulation, there are simply too many humans on the planet.

This is a thread about bush fires in Australia. Do you think CO2 and other greenhouse gas emissions from Australia just sit over Oz and impact their climate? or might their climate be impacted by emissions from other countries?
