It’s not really when you think about it. It’s a little over 15k a year or 27k km per year
Would she fancy a 142 Insignia 2D with cruise, sat nav and Bluetooth all working for €9k.
Practically the same mileage (108k) in miles. Taxed to 08/22 and 2 year NCT.
There’s a noble drink in it for yourself

Shes doing my head in at the moment boxty. I’m very near the point of telling her to piss off and sort it herself. She was looking at Dacias the other day.

Surely time to tackle the issue if she’s resorted to that level. Cars are wicked dear at the moment, even outside the jurisdiction. I’d be continuously keeping an eye across at the dealers in and around Enniskillen and stuff is pricey. She’d look business in a Tucson, Sportage or one of them Asian yokes.

In and out to work is 16km a day. Maybe once a month she might head to Waterford or Carlow. Looking at maybe 500km per month (max)

The last decent S40s were made in 2003/2004, and then they moved to the new shape. Ford Focus chassis, french electrics, etc. A hodge podge, with a fancy interior and a “floating console”. The best part was the Peugeot diesel engines.
Buy the Dacia. Cheap and nothing wrong with it for her mileage & general driving needs.
New car, warranty etc. Presume they have a Hybrid option?
