Calling Carryharry

How is it bullshit? On any analysis they use less fuel and you pay less tax

Yes, they use less fuel. But not near enough to justify the price & performance.

Reply to my post above you jerk.

You answered your own question, you tool.

If so why do you always appear to recommend buying second hand cars with a good resale value? What kind of fucking scam are you running here?

The performance is great out of some of the new ones and with the vrt rebate there is very little difference in price
carryharry, ive taken your advice and will sell my car myself

Ill go to Britain to buy my leaf as its 10k cheaper there

how would one go about registeering an import?

any tips for buying in Britain?

How many pips in a pear?
I’m just after buying a car in the UK. Bit of trouble but I saved myself a couple of grand. I also got a better spec than you’d ever get here. I’d be different to @Boxtyeater in that my modus operandi is to buy something from a main dealer with the remains of a Europewide guarantee attached to it, so you can get it fixed for free by the dealer here if it’s a pig.
Do the vrt calculation on the revenue website and make sure you get all the documents from them, v5 registration document, vat invoice, cert of compliance. Verify the co2 emissions here by plugging the reg. no. into the DVLA website in the UK, before you pay over a red cent.

No bother, Ned. Dealers like @carryharry don’t want you to know the truth about bringing in a car and are in cahoots with the revenue to make it seem as difficult as possible. If you play it by the book though it’s worthwhile. The only really big trap is buying a car that’s deemed to be new - less than 6 months registered and less than 6,000 miles. If you do that you have to pay Irish VAT as well as the vrt.

So you went for the 520D in the end then Fagan, well done. Safe motoring, enjoy the higher spec, leather and all the other extras.
Sound advice regarding checking the hidden costs, a VRT miscalculation etc., Anybody buying as used car here is off their trolly. I have bought a fair few in the UK over the past years, some being driven by mini-Boxtys and to date not a hobble.
I’d never buy a used motor however in NI. The shite’s been burned out of them with hooky diesel. Safe and pleasurable motoring…

Those who pay attention around here will know that carryharry is no longer in the car trade.

Very poor internetting out of you @Fagan ODowd

Just a fiat with a different badge.
