Anyone had an issue with the steering lock on the VW Passat?

Have a 2008 model and it’s giving a bit of trouble starting with the steering lock light coming on the whole time.

No…never a problem with steering lock.

I had plenty other trouble with the Passat though.

That model was pretty over rated and unreliable in my own experience.

Is the car starting but cutting out straight away? If so, the ignition unit which you push the key fob into is the problem. Had an 07 Passat at work with this issue recently, a new ignition unit/holder is roughly €250 off a VW dealer. What they will charge to fit it i don’t know.

Yeah more or less. The steering wheel symbol is coming on but none of the rest of the lights are.

Same as with this guy

Is that what you’re talking about?

Is that not the handbrake logo? Are you driving around with the handbrake on?

Come again.

anyone know what happens if you can´t find your vehicle registation book for your NCT?..is it an automatic fail?

No. I’ve never once brought the reg book to an Nct.

just the car and driving licence is all you need?..website says:
Don’t forget to bring your vehicle registration book, registration certificate or licensing certificate
i can´t find one of them and i don´t even know what the other 2 are…

Pal, you could try bringing the vehicle registration book for a different car and claim it has the same fundamentals as your own one.

:D:D:clap: quintessential left of centre wit from the big Wexford shot stopper…

I’ve found that the licence is all they are interested in. That and the money.

cheers… i´ll scorch on up to Ballymun in the morn with a fistful of money and a carload of dreams…

You’ll be grand Scumpot.

hope so…i already have to pay an extra 22 quid as i didn´t turn up last time as i forgot about it…

You do realise that you can start a car with the handbrake on?
