Card Games

A few of the auld lads were playing a particularly confusing game called Dom down in the hurling club the other night. I watched in for about a half an hour and I was still none the wiser.

Anyone come across it before?

What was the general gist of it?

Now I was fairly drunk. The whole deck was dealt out between 4 players (2 teams) and some suit was trumps. I don’t know how they decided this.

Someone would then lead off and the next player would have to play a card of the same suit if they had it (similar to 25 etc.). After this it got a bit sketchy and I wasn’t really sure how lads were winning tricks. As I said I was fairly drunk

Ah yes, Cups.

We play something similar to acey/deucey down here called in between…everybody puts in a fiver starting off, you get your cards but you can choose to go the pot or just a small wager or pass if you want…if you get picture cards you can split them and have two bets…

Sounds great

I presume the saucer card came up when you were playing?

about as fun as a conversation with WITJ

Much more complicated though

Ya that’s basically the same thing, they weren’t splitting picture cards last night but I have seen it done in other games. You can call however much you want to bet, it doesn’t have to be pot.

ah yes a most noble of games:clap:

The biggest the pot got to last night was €150 I think. The most anyone was stung for was €45 and the biggest win was €60.
Was caught up in a particularly lively game of Acey-Ducey yesterday evening in the boozer.

Anyone else familiar with this money pit of a game?
Seen many the good christmas ruined with this fucking bollox of a game. Nuts, especially if fellas have a few drinks on board.

Managed to pull 6 together for 110 in the local earlier. I haven’t laughed as much in ages.

The best card game going by a mile.

There is no game for strategy ike 110

Anyone ever played whist?

As a kid, I always thought it was a difficult, complicated game but, much like 25, the rules are simple but the game play is very skilful.

We had 12 this year, two games going.
Some craic. A lad at one table ended up firing the deck across the bar at one stage over his hand being turned. Always the sign of a good game.
