The Spailpin and the Bodhran are bothwyite touristy although they’re fine bars.
Callanans is a great bar @Matty_Hislop, although some roasters will call it hipster, the Abbey tavern on Gillabey Street may be what you’re looking for though
Counihans is harmless but I wouldn’t ever think of drinking in there through choice,
Larry Tompkins is a great man @Copper_pipe but that pub is a bit of a shithole
Speaking of shit holes , are you calling down for the Fancy Dress competition tonight ?
Callnans
The Hi B
An Bodhran for decent live music in a small dive bar surroundings
The Welcome Inn. Early house at end of Oliver Plunkett St. Great spot
Wouldn’t be in the top 100 bars in Cork IMO but havent been in there in years
It’s possible,
Thanks for the feedback guys. Hopefully all these places are within walking, or staggering, distance of Jury’s.
Mutton Lane and The Oval.
There’s a few nice bars up on McCurtain Street across the bridge. By nice I mean shitholes
The Idle hour is a nice authentic Cork boozer within short walking distance of Jury’s for early pints, the Sextant is a lovely bar even closer again,
Jurys Inn or ‘jurys’
Great shout on the sextant. Do they still do the BBQ out the back on a fine day?
The owner there has a penchant for hiring lovely looking bar staff that’s to be admired
Only ever been in there on a matchday, but my God he has a supply of them.
Cork City doesnt have too many boozers tbh.
Limerick has a rake of em.
There does be rakes of them in there. And they are all happy to be there. It’d cheer you up.
He runs a good ship whoever owns it
What’s the place near enough to the Opera House? It’s possibly just opposite the church. Had a few pints in there one evening before a show. Real old school, locals type vibe to the place.
That’s what I’d be doing
Souths on O’Connell Street is one of the all time great boozers
Cork has a shitload of old style boozers,
What church? Was it Dennehys on the coal quay, another daycent boozer
