Cars

I thought car giant was a website? If so how can I ‘go there’? Unless its a car auction? If it is then what guarantees are there with the car?

Did you think you could download the car after paying for it?

It’s a place alright, but the turnover is high so you have to head over with a few cars in mind and grab what you can on the day. They seem pretty legit and it’s not an auction, you pay what they’re asking. There probably a good warranty but that’s fuck all good to you over here, but that’s the balance for saving 5k on a car.

Well no. If it’s a car buying website same as done deal, carzone, autotrader etc. I’d make an enquiry, go check it out, haggle with them, buy, drive away. Is car giant same thing then?

No, it’s a company, like walking into Brian Geary’s but they have 8000 cars. What’s your budget? I would bother if you weren’t paying around 12k euro inc VRT.

I’ve bought off Cargiant and would have no issue doing so again. It’s not an auction. It’s more like a car supermarket. Their cars are genuine and they go through a detailed check before they’re sold, so your chances of buying a lemon are very slim. The one thing to be aware of is that there is no haggling - the price is the price.

I went to the UK in September and got a high spec diesel. Cost around €13500 including VRT and flight/ferry. Passed the NCT with flying colours. Same year and Spec with higher milage are making €16000+ here

You get a far better car in England

I bought two cars in England. One gave a bit of trouble. The other was a pure lemon. Both had main dealer warranties but the damage happened just outside the warranty period. Whereas customer service and loyaltyhere might mean that they would bend the rules a bit here to sort you out, if you’ve bought thecar abroad they’ll send you home with your tae in a mug.

I think with sterling at the moment, its hard to look at any other option than bringing a 2nd hand car In from UK. My brother brought in a top spec’d Avensis there last week. Home and cleared for about 14,700. The same car here is being quoted here for about 18000 and that’s for lower spec.
Only downer was that the clerk in the dealership in UK was dicey about taking a sterling bank draft from BOI

Was this when you crashed into a pigeon?

No it was when the fuel pump went.

Can be a pricey job depending on the motor.

The only lemon I ended up with was bought off an Irish dealer who shortly after went out of business. If the cunt is still alive, I hope he dies roaring.

I’ve offered before but my wife’s cousin is a UK dealer/sources, and a nicer man you would not meet. He’s also a child psychologist and absolutely trustworthy. Pm me if you want his details

:scream:

One of the low points in my Internet career.

In my defense, I was clearly the victim. My solicitors have instructed me not to comment further.

Poor Flatty didn’t deserve that in fairness.

I was very kind to Flatty. It was @balbec and @Little_Lord_Fauntleroy that bore the brunt of it. I felt bad about balbec, but TSG is a pariah and most likely used to being kicked. Repeatedly.
