Who: Tom Dunne
Famous For: Former Something Happens Member and current Newstalk DJ
Where: Italian Restaurant in Temple Bar
When: Last Night
Notes: Tom was out for a meal with his wife and a friend. He sounds like a complete gobdoon on the radio and thereās nothing about meeting him in person that would change that opinion. We spoke with him for a minute or two to ask him how he was getting on with Ivan Yates in Newstalk. He described Ivan as an āoverly positive madmanā.
Great spot of a high profile former Inter COunty hurler.
thats a spot.
Who: Ruby Walsh, Robbie Power and Jessica Harrington
Famous For: Luminaries in the Sport of Kings
Where: Dublin Airport
When: 7.00 am Saturday February 6th.
Notes: Robbie and Jessica were waiting for the 8 am flight to East Midlands chatting away to Ruby. Not sure where Ruby went to but the other 2 were in front of me on the plane.
Had a bit of banter with Robbie while getting off the plane, turned out he had only the one ride in Doncaster. Was sussing out the horses chances with Jessica in the queue at Hertz when she informed me she had 2 in the same race and fancied the outsider of the 2, which duly won at 7/1 . Thanks Jessica.
p.s. Ruby must have been riding in Doncaster as well as she tols me he had just sent a text waring of speed cameras and roadworks.
Tom Dunne confirmed on his morning show that he was out with Mrs. Dunne and a friend called Eric. Didnāt mention talking to a randomer Wexican though in his summary of his weekendā¦ shame
Just stop.
GOod spots there Mullach, had you asked Ruby for a tip heād have went about charging you for it,if you were in the queue at the newsagents hed probably have handed you his paper to pay for before dropping you a winner,i have first hand experience of this fella, hes a miserable cunt.
I think the best phrase in relation to this family was that the Red Cow roundabout was delayed by 2 years cos Rubys ould fella lost a pound coin somewhere on it.
Who: John Spillane - Harmless Irish musician that brought such harmless entertainment as āDunnes Stores Girlā, āSongs We Learned Going to Schoolā and the follow up āmore Songs we Learned At Schoolā.
Where: Langtonās Hotel, Kilkenny
When: Tonight 7.15
What: John was just after ordering something from the menu, and sat comfortably looking forward to his meal with 2 associates. It looked like business. EDIT: Just see that he is playing two dates at the venue in April
AOB: An alright sort despite his emphatic Corkness
Martin Amis, novelist, Islam basher and euthanasia enthusiast.
Smith & Wollensky steakhouse, NYC last week.
Martin was accompanied by three younger English companions, one female, two male. He was wearing
a t-shirt and sports jacket combination that mostly only writer types can get away with.He seemed
to be running the show and was perusing the wine list intently before gruffly asking the waiter if
he had a partucular wine. He did, but the implication was that his first choice had been unavailable,
which is poor form really.
Sounds like a prickā¦
Good spot though
Thats an outstanding spot. Next time you see him, tell him Korba the Dread is one of my favourite books.
Good spot of Spillane, ill be going to see him in April.
GOod spot of Martin Amis too,NYC is a great place for the spots.
Who:The best Munster footballer never to win a Munster Championship medal John Galvin
Where:Dooradoyle, Limerick
When:Sunday morning
Details:After a tough night of socialising with some alright sorts from the Western capital, I had gotten into my car to make my up the country to meet my lift to the Laois game in Ballyshannon (which subsequently, thankfully fell through). I had popped into a local shop to get some susenance and smokes for the trip when I spotted Mr Galvin pull into the carpark in a nice 06 Audi (A6 TDI I believe). Mr Galvin was casually attired in combat pants and a hoodie. As I passed by Mr Galvins car I noticed an extremely large bunch of flowers on the back seat, proving that Mr Galvin is very smooth and cultured both on and off the field.
Great spot there MBB
Who: Joe OāShea
Famous for: Presenting a show with Grainne Seoige and then getting the boot (heās on the right below)
Where and when: Vicar Street bar last night before the Midlake gig
Company: A few birds I think. None of them jumped out as much use.
Who Current Kildare manager Kieran Mc Geeney
Where Toast bar and cafĆ© Rathmines in the early hours of Valentineās Day.
Other info Kieran was in the company of a lady-friend. They were sitting beside each other on a couch just inside the door. Both Kieran and the Bridie were drinking bottles of beer. Also when he took a phone-call during the evening he went missing for about ten minutes leaving herself on her own for that period of time. She did not look pleased when he returned.
