The Italy national team was very weak when Greavsie was in his pomp. Failed to qualify for the 1958 World Cup. Knocked out in the group stages in 1962. Knocked out in the group stages by North Korea in 1966.

I think it’s a well known fact that the Italians were ahead of the English in terms of diet etc going back the years. Sure in the early 90s most teams were still going on the beer after matches rounded off with a Chinese.
But Jimmy Greaves was still a great player.
This was going on into the mid to late 90’s .it all changed when wenger and his nutritionist landed at arsenal
And in a mere10 or so years they wiped out Italian club football.

AC Milan did as you said win the league again after Greavsie’s league medal winning season with them in 1961/62, but not until 1967/68 - just one of 2 league titles won in the quarter century after Greavsie left.

Jimmy Greaves is the highest scorer in English football history, and it’s not close. There is no hyperbole possible when describing him.
Show a bit of respect, you pup. We’re nearly all mourning Greavsie here. You on the other hand are ranting and raving about Italy soccer.
Would it surprise you to hear 1960s Italian football was riddled with bribery and corruption?

Sad to hear that. RIP. Boycie was one of the great tv characters. He was battling cancer for a good few years.
