My Uncle knew him quite well. When Chieftains played in Canada a few years ago, he did a number or two with them, and said that Paddy was fading a bit at that stage. Sent him on a message to let him know and he said “what a great contributor to our national culture”

I thought it interesting that Sean O’Riada intensely disliked the music of the Chieftains after he had mentored most of them, there was a good Bowmans Sunday episode on it recently.
It was never my cup of tea but Paddy seemed a daycent sort

Colin Powell is famous for making the case for war based on weapons of mass destruction which did not exist.
Ironic he should die from a weapon* of mass destruction most of his former party wants to deny the existence of.
