Celtic 2012/2013 season discussion thread

Great news :ireland:

Fantastic news for Celtic and Tony.

Ah thatā€™s fantastic news for Irishmen everywhere.

More great news for the country with Dermot Desmond reappointed to the Celtic Board at the agm. Virtually unopposed.

Iā€™m ashamed that my auditing knowledge has lapsed as Iā€™ve broadened my business career. But who are the auditors that have just been reappointed? PKF - Iā€™ve never heard of them.

A shareholder has proposed ending joint jersey sponsorships with the zombies. The Board has recommended voting it against it citing it as an important revenue stream to allow us to achieve our objectives but thanked the proposer for his well delivered argument. Going for a vote nowā€¦

Vote suspended until after Q & A session.

Final resolution from Celtic Trust is for the board to organise a working party on corporate governance with representatives from the board and supporter organisations. Ultimate aim is to get fan representation on the board. This one is going to a poll at the end too but the board are against it and say current set up is sensible, constructive and effective.

Celtic training stint for US and Chivsa USA striker Juan Agudelo

16 November 2012 16:15 GMT
United States international striker Juan Agudelo has started a training stint with Celtic.

The 19-year-old, capped 16 times by his country already in his career, joined up with Neil Lennonā€™s side for the first time on Friday at Lennoxtown.

Agudelo is currently with MLS side Chivas USA, having previously played with New York Red Bulls.

Scorer of ten club career goals from 62 appearances, the Colombian-born player has also netted twice for his country, on target against South Africa and Argentina.

That Agudelo is quite highly rated, isnā€™t he? It would be an honour to welcome a Colombian to Celtic Park.

He seems to be highly thought of alright. Youngest ever scorer for the US and has a lot of caps already.

We do seem to take Americans over for training sessions every year and it seems more like a relationship thing with the MLS than with a view to signing them. Iā€™d be happy if this was different.

I see Snoop Dogg wants to buy a share in club

He goes by Snoop Lion these days. Maybe thats a hat tip to Celtic as well

I only discovered over the weekend that, in homage to the Lisbon Lions - European Cup winners in 1967, Celticā€™s ladiesā€™ team is known as The Lesbian Lions.

I understand that Celtic are monitoring Polonia Warsawā€™s 20-year Polish international midfielder Pawel Wszolek.

Iā€™d be willing to sell Kayal in January, hasnā€™t kicked his arse this season.

He hasnā€™t been playing well but he hasnā€™t had a decent run fine coming back from injury and I donā€™t think thereā€™d be much of a fee for him anyway. Having sold Ki Iā€™d be reluctant to move another midfielder on.

3 games to be played between now and the crucial Spartak Moscow Champions League tie:

Saturday 24th November - Caley Thistle (H) - SPL
Wednesday 28th November - Hearts (A) - SPL
Saturday 1st December - Arbroath (H) - SC

With Wanyama ruled out of the Spartak game (Wednesday 5th December) through suspension and Brownā€™s availability in severe doubt due to his hip injury, itā€™s imperative that our other midfield options remain fit.

Weā€™re probably looking at Kayal and Ledley playing in the centre of midfield against Spartak so Iā€™d be using Ledley very sparingly between now and then (maybe just at Tynecastle). Kayal hasnā€™t played an awful lot this season so he could probably do with a couple of games (rest him for Arbroath). We still have Wanyama available for these domestic games, of course, but itā€™s an opportune time to give the likes of McGeouch and McCourt a start or two.

We could do with having Forrest back to provide us with more pace down the flanks for Spartak too.

Lennon said he expects Forrest and Rogne to be back for the Spartak game. The latter will just be on the bench, but no harm given Wanyamaā€™s absence and Mulgrew struggling a bit. Forrest may well be crucial.

Hooper is probably in a similar situation to Kayal in that he needs games more than a break. But Watt, Miku and Lassad are all worth giving spells to so Iā€™d be very much in favour of a rotation up front over the 3 games.

Fridayā€™s papers are reporting that Scott Brown will postpone his hip surgery until after the Spartak game.

Joe Ledley is battling a groin problem, however.

Neil confirmed today that Scott Brown will be available for the Spartak game.

Weā€™re trying to sign that young American striker Agudelo whoā€™s been training with us. Neil said heā€™s looked very accomplished in training games.

Weā€™ve also taken a young Ghanian winger on trial.
