I think he is the type of player needed at Celtic right now. We have lots of attacking midfielders but bar a past it Brown and unproven Soro we don’t really have much bite there.
If we can get Ntcham out the door and McCarthy in that would be good business. I’d imagine Ntcham’s market value has plummeted. Probably be lucky to get 7/8m for him now. Maybe a swap of dry loans for the reamainder of the season might work best. Hopefully Ntcham can impress down south and ramp his transfer price up.
So from what I can see we are likely to be operating in the loans and players with less than 6 months contracts this window
Linked with:
Ben Davies PNE centre half
Thomas Robert Aidrie winger
Bright Osayi-Samuel QPR winger
Mark McKenzie Philadelphia Union centre half
Nothing from the above spells out anything too immediate that will go in and rip up the place. I think a couple of these may be pursued but we need bigger names and in the current climate loans are realistic. We have seen this approach failing before though so it is a tough enough act to get right.
For me the keeper remains our biggest issue, no Forster or Marshall in the Summer looks more foolish by the day unfortunately
He’s had a miserable time since he left Celtic but we know what he is capable of and we don’t have a proper alternative to Forrest in the squad. 6 month loan and if he does well a permanent move probably won’t be too difficult conclude.
Having watched his YouTube compilation video be looks a lot more accomplished than I give him credit for. Maybe he just had a poor game.
Weren’t we also linked with a Preston defender on a freebie. Are we returning to the transfer strategy under Lennon’s first spell with Championship bosmans like Wilson, Ledley, Matthews etc?
Hardly a ringing endorsement! He does have a high enough cards to games ratio anyway by the looks of it. Preston fans don’t seem overjoyed by the thought of losing him which is usually a decent barometer though
