After the fanfare surrounding Duffy from the IFSC pira, I’ll reserve judgement on McCarthy until we see how he gets on against Hamish Mcjockstrap on a wet Tuesday night in Kilmarnock.

Brown is innocent in this. He gives his utmost at all times, but he was obviously waning, and as the pivotal figure for a decade, anyone with the faintest idea (or, more pertinently, who gives a flying fcuk beyond their weekly wage packet) would have been lining up a appropriate and adequate replacement two years ago.

I was glad to see MON, and dela gone, and frustrated that they wouldn’t give LOI lads more of a try, and the shoe wavers grated, but I’d always support them as much as I’ve any interest. Why?

He was injured for 3 weeks not 14 matches. If Crystal Palace wanted to keep him Celtic wouldn’t be able to buy him
You’re telling more porkies I’m afraid. He’s missed 10 games through injury/personal reasons.
Injured in October with Ireland, missed three games, returned off the bench and then picked up another injury where he subsequently withdrew for the England friendly match as below. Didn’t return to the Palace squad until the 19th December.
So you can offer a retraction.
You seem to overrate the draw of Crystal Palace and the EPL. McCarthy is a boyhood Celtic fan and now free to talk to other teams. Duffy had plenty of EPL teams interested this season.

If he is on big money signing JMC would be a massive risk for Celtic given his fitness issues over the years.

Unfortunately he looks like a fish out of water at Celtic. Not sure if he has declined or the system at Celtic leaves him a little isolated .

Right he missed 8 games through injury so we’re both wrong. Celtic want to sign him for now so him being out of contract in the summer isn’t really relevant. I don’t see what he does for Celtic anyway. He hides from the ball and passes it sideways or backwards when he gets it
Celtic lack a defensive presence in midfield, Brown is finished and Soro is the only option we have who can break up play and keep things simple. All the other options we have in midfield are players who like to get forward like Turnbull, Rogic, Chrstie, McGregor and Nthcam.
McCarthy offers a good option here. He’s available on a free and I’d say he’d be happy to accept less money to move to Celtic.
