Celtic Non Matchday Discussion Season 2014/15

We need a quality striker to lead the line in a 4-2-3-1, bhoys.

Griffiths has a role to play within the squad but isn’t good enough to be the main Celtic striker.

Rumours that Scepovic will be sold in the summer and Stokes, who excels more playing wide, might be off too.

Guidetti will also move on. His goals have dried up and he hasn’t looked like scoring too often lately. He’s a clever player and did very well for both goals last night but he doesn’t have any pace.

We’ll be quite short on forward options if even 2 of those 3 depart and we need to sign someone who’ll bang in a shit load of goals.

We’ve been dominant in most games lately but have missed a lot of chances.

Would hope we don’t sell Stokes, Scepovic hasn’t impressed but he hasn’t had much of a run.

I’d rather we sorted defensive reinforcements and other midfield options first.

Liam Henderson settling into life at Rosenberg in the company of Norwegian model Nicole Sunde:

@Rocko mentioned it on the match thread yesterday but (blatant cheating by match officials aside) allowing Henderson to leave on loan may have cost us a treble. With GMS and Armstrong cup-tied, Stokes suspended for the semi-final yesterday, Forrest rarely capable of completing a full game and Mulgrew injured long-term, there was always a strong possibility that he would be needed in a cup game either in wide or central midfield.

Yesterday, we were very light on bench reinforcements and turned to Tonev who hasn’t featured since December. Apparently he was shit and didn’t look too committed while the rest of the ten were breaking their holes - is that accurate? The only other alternative seemed to be McGregor.

Henderson will need to play the majority of Rosenberg games during his loan spell and really improve for it if this is even to be partly justified.

I don’t think Tonev looked like he wasn’t trying. He did a few things that didn’t come off - including one ridiculous shot from a stupid angle that was really appalling in terms of execution and decision-making. He looked off the pace, but I put that down to lack of games more than lack of effort.

We had a couple of problems when down to 10 men yesterday: Commons was having an off day and was now going to be relied on to do more work defensively which isn’t his forte anyway. Also, Bitton was badly struggling with an injury for much of extra time (though he managed to shake it off, and even injured he and Brown were comfortably our best players on the park). Henderson would have been a better replacement for either Commons or Bitton than Tonev.

Oddly enough Forrest had another good outing at Hampden, though he had long since begun to limp and fade out of the match before he was hooked when Gordon was sent off.

Oh dear

+1

There was a time when Celtic should have been speaking out on referees when cunts like Dougal, McDonald and Dallas were fucking us over good and proper. Our incessant whinging and passing the buck when it comes to refereeing decisions over the past two seasons has been embarrassing.

Van Dijk and Johansen have been nominated for SPFA Senior Player of the Year, while Denayer has been shortlisted for Young Player of the Year.

Henderson scored on his full debut for Rosenberg yesterday - it was a cup game against lower league opposition.

Liam Henderson has just scored for Rosenberg in their league match this evening. He came on as a sub and scored almost immediately.

Aberdeen won at Caley Thistle earlier so the lead is down to 5 points ahead of tomorrow’s match away to Dundee United.

Henderson’s just scored again!

Highlights of that Rosenberg game. Flick forward to around 5 minutes 20 seconds to see Henderson’s 2 goals. He shows really good technique and skill for the second one.

The end of season awards ceremony and dinner took place last night. Winners were as follows:

Fans’ Player of the Season - Stefan Johansen.
Players’ Player of the Season - Stefan Johansen and Scott Brown (tie).
Young Player of the Season - Jason Denayer.
Top Goalscorer - Leigh Griffiths.
Goal of the Season - Kris Commons v Sevco.
Academy Player of the Season - Eoghan O’Connell.

Have we all watched Ronny Deila’s 45 minute presentation on his pursuit of excellence with Stromgodset? It’s subtitled if your Norwegian isn’t up to scratch. Some interesting bits in it.

Watched the first 7 minutes before tiredness got the better of me last night. Is it worth watching in full?

I recommend saying you’ve watched it in full.

Minutes 15-25 is the key segment according to a Norwegian football journalist I follow on twitter.

The Tangerines have taken the lead against The Dons, bhoys.

Ooooooooohhhhhh…

4 in a row. Terrific.
