I don’t think there is much in it other than left back.
Keeper and right back are up for debate a bit until we’ve seen more of Forster, Bauer and Elhamed. Unlikely to be worse at keeper anyway and right back could go either way. Better depth anyway at right back hopefully because Gamboa was never up to it.
Still unproven at centre back but Boyata and Simunovic were hit and miss. I’m happy with Ajer, Jullien, Simunovic and Bitton as cover with Elhamed in emergencies.
Brown is not the player he was probably but at the start of the Rodgers era neither he nor McGregor were all that good. I’d like another player here but Ntcham is a good option as is the opportunity to play Christie and Rogic/Elyounoussi as 8s ahead of McGregor.
We will miss Sinclair’s goals but Forrest looks really good at the moment and is scoring very important goals. Think we’re no worse off there anyway and stronger than last season when we struggled on the left hand side.
Dembele at his best was sensational but Edouard is getting very close to that level.
A bit more competition at left back and possibly another midfielder to develop as Brown’s replacement and we’ll be doing well.
There’s a huge amount in it at left back. Tierney was our best player, we are replacing him with a bomb scare and an average lad from Killie for about £20m less.
Aye, we replaced him with a chap for £3m and when it became apparent he was a bombscare we go for the cheap option from Killie. Embarrassing, if Celtic had any ambition they would do their best for the Rosenborg lad who is easily a couple of levels above Taylor.
I’m not sure he is any better. He may be but I’ve read mixed reports on him from my nordic friends. I doubt it’s his price that is keeping people away.
Presumably the Taylor deal will get done today with Hendry and/or Miller going the other way.
Apart from that, Wanyama is being linked with a season long loan. He was meant to be going to Belgium but pulled out and Bruges signed a different midfielder over the weekend.
Also linked with a couple of young players. Jeremie Frimpong (18/19 year old right back at Manchester City) and a young centre back at Birmingham City.
My sources tell me the Wanyama deal is NOT happening.
Frimpong seems highly enough rated. That’s a definite change in strategy now in recent seasons where we are signing 17/18 year old prospects for the development squad.
